Has anyone turned front sig. lights to turns?

Has anyone rewired there front turn marker light into a turn sig?

Had a bulb out...on my late model 40, while playing around I thought it might be a good idea to change the light on the side of the front lights might be good for turns signals

I think he means the marker lights on the SIDE of the front clip/apron. I have not seen it done, but had the same thought. I would be easy to do.

you would have to add another bulb or all your lights would blink.or not use it as a marker light and just a signal bulb good luck

It can be done the ones I import from Japan all have the turn signal come from the front side marker,I have to convert them to a parking light only to become certifiied.This is a pain in the ass because I have to splice into the parking light wires,I dont know why I have to do this since most new vehicles use the side markers as turn signals

Piece of cake! You don't have to add another bulb, or even a two element bulb.

Just unbolt the GROUND wire for the side marker light and splice it into the turn signal wire on that side. Repeat for other side. It will still light as a marker light but will now flash when the turn signal is activated...

I did this on one of my Mazdas a few years ago. super simple, and just as Coolerman says. Takes about 10 or 15 minutes per side.

I forgot to mention you MUST make sure the marker light HOUSING is isolated from ground!!! This is normally not an issue, it's why Toyota supplied them with a ground wire BUT sometimes the housing will ground through the mounting screws or the housing to the apron. The use of a gasket, nylon bushings or washers may all be needed.

You'll know the housings grounded, when you hit the turn signal, and the turn signal fuse blows instantly.

It is not a good idea to ground through another load.
when you activate the signal switch still
the side marker will not be in a complete circit unless you pull the light switch. I can't agree with you on this one.
Also current will go to the signal bulbs when you pull the light switch, because side marker get leads from the light switch.
That is how I see, uless you are talking about something differnent than what I am understaning.
If you want to do something like that, use 2 filment bulbs and wire the leads as desired and ground the bulbs properly.

ya, i have both side marker lights are turn singles.
Around here, the more the better.

I have it wired up so I can add a 3 to 2 trailer conveter into the system, but currently have it jumped over to just work as turn singles.

here's a diagram of my mixed year switches and turn / running side lights.

while i was at it, I did the bib lights too.

this thing is extremely visible when the emergency flashers are on.
