Ordered one of these last night. I have had a Streamlight Stinger for about 10 years now and it still works great. I have had to replace the battery before but the flashlight itself is still functioning.

The latest version is the Streamlight 75813 Stinger DS LED. It is brighter than the old xenon bulb and allows the battery to last much longer. This new version also has Dual Switches, ergo the DS. It has a switch on the head and butt end of the flashlight.

It comes with the ability to mount it in the truck. 12v power cord and cradle included. I never mounted the old one, just mounted it in the garage on a 110 charger.

My question is has anyone mounted one of these (or something similar) in their 100? Where did you mount it and do you have pics?

I'm a big fan of Surefire lights, they have some very affordable products in the past 2-3 years. You can get one of these and put in in your arm rest. It's smaller, brighter and cheaper. Throw in a few extra batteries and your set.

Agreed! SureFires rock! Batteries are a bit expensive and you go through them, when using the flashlight, but WOW, do you get light!

This is my Pelican 7060 (LAPD) mounted in the deep center console. I used heavy duty double stick to the charging base and a couple of zip ties for the wires.

I carry a few flashlights all the time, for work and personal, and a headlamp in the toolbox. Lithium batteries last much longer, are lighter, and work well at very low temps. I've put a few good flashlights in my wife's truck, they usually are the only ones she or the kids can find when they need one in the house, so they always end up lost in the house. I think I need a 20' steel lanyard on any flashlight I leave in her truck.

RobRed..that's a sweet set up and LED light! I clicked on their video and am sold. I am buying one this week! I have an LED headlamp and mag light in my rig right now, but this is going to be a nice addition/replacement to the mag. I have some 2" velcro that should do the trick to hold it in the same place, center console. Cool! Thanks for the post!

I'm not constantly taking it out so It works well in that position for me. I would consider the two sided tape mount over Velcro. The velcro tends to wiggle a bit and that always bothers me. The HD tape is fully removable if you change your mind about location.

The 7060 LED is a very specific flashlight - it's light weight and designed for up to 1.5 hours use. But that's it. Remember it's designed for cop use lots of use for minutes then back into the charger. I know some people like to treat their flashlights like lanterns :)

Sure fire makes some bright lights in a pretty compact package. I just carry around a box of 12 extra surefire batteries for both my lights.

I also keep one of those 15 minute lithium AA battery rechargers in the center console for my GPS. You can't go wrong with lithium power, fully charged in only 15 (more like 20) minutes times 6.

I use the crap out of a flashlight. I have gone the lithium battery route and I am sick of spending $4-$6 on CR123 batteries every time I turn around. I just think I must really use a flashlight a lot more than you guys do.

This is my Pelican 7060 (LAPD) mounted in the deep center console. I used heavy duty double stick to the charging base and a couple of zip ties for the wires.

That Pelican 7060 is a very close match to the one I ordered but it does look like the body is some sort of poly. The Stinger I bought is an aluminum body with the dual switches and strobe feature.

I may try the deep well inside the center console but I am not sure I will still have room for my 9mm in there. I was thinking about screwing the charger to the floor either beside the driver seat, or in front of the driver seat, or to the transmission hump.

My Beretta 92 fits in there fine with the Pelican. :D

Are you using an LED model? If not it's time to upgrade. More light with fewer batteries.

I buy the Surefire batts at less than $2 a piece.

Surefire Batteries - Box of 12 123a Lithium Batteries

I used to use a couple of boxes a year. But now that I have LED lights (Surefire G2 Nitralon LED and Surefire X200) I'm using them a lot slower. The G2 and 6P incandescents and are held in reserve.

Around the truck I use my LED headlamp the most so I can keep my hands free. I may have replaced it's AAAs a couple of times over it's life.

^^This. We have the 7060's big brother in all of our patrol cars (the longer 8060, same light with about 30% more run time but solid tailcap - no switch), and they are the best rechargeable lights I have ever used. Bright as hell, great throw, decent spill, hella stout, and good run time for the brightness. Not as heavy as my trusty Streamlight SL20X/LED (tank of a flashlight, but HEAVY...rides as a backup to the Pelican), which is nice on longer calls. Fits perfectly into my sap pocket when it isn't needed.

I had no idea that a 7060 would fit in the center console - I will be buying one for my rig now. Thanks for the pics, Rob.

Fuzz - if you were ordering just one flashlight would you go with the 8060 or the SL20X ?

As with everything in the profession, the most appropriate answer is "it depends". I like the versatility of the SL20X-LED because you have the primary halogen lamp which is bright enough to land aircraft with, but you also have the 3 secondary led's which are great when you need a little less light. The downside is the fact that you have two separate switches in close proximity to each other, one for the halogen and one for the led's, which can be confusing until you're familiar with the light. Another is the weight, but its manageable, and the light will probably last for decades.

The pelican is a lightweight sun stick. Super bright, tough polymer case, although not as tough as the aluminum and it only has one brightness level. The simplicity is great though - one switch, one mode.

For personal use, if I had to pick only one I'd pick the streamlight for its versatility and durability. For duty, I'd take the pelican for the simplicity and lighter weight.

Ideally, I'd have both. The smaller 7060 in the center console and the Streamlight mounted up by the tailgate with the charger hard wired.

I guess I will try to mount it in the console then. I think the Stinger LED is about 1/4" longer on the overall length. I hope it fits in there, that would be a handy location.

Might have given the Pelican a try if I hadn't already ordered the Streamlight. I have been very pleased with the aluminum bodied Stinger I have had for 10 years so I just went back with what I knew. Not sure if the Pelican works this way but the Streamlight is 180 lumens on high w/ 2 hr runtime. You can turn it down to medium and have 3.75 hr runtime, or low and have a 7.25 hour runtime. My younger brother has one of these and I was very impressed.

If some of you guys don't mind spending $50 a year on 2 boxes of Lithium batteries then great. I probably used my flashlight 8 hours this last weekend hunting hogs. We shot and tracked hogs Friday and Saturday till late in the evening.

the DS is our #1 selling rechargeable, but I REALLY like the Strion LED as its smaller(20 less lums), litium battery, fast charger

FYI, Surefire makes crappy re-chargeables, great everything else

Fuzz (everyone) you are welcome for the pics. If you guys hadn't noticed I try to have pics and tools listed in every how to post.

I'm considering an 8060 to mount in the long, rear PS cubbyhole next. I love Pelican stuff. It just works. I am also keeping 2 Pelican VB3 clip LED lights up front.

The VB3's are neat, but a while back I found a product called the Quiqlite at Blue Star Police Supply, and I've been using them for years now. Same type of pivoting head as the VB3, but you have red/white LEDs and push button activation, which I prefer, as opposed to the VB3 that turns on when you open it. Just a different option for the same application. ;)

Mine are the older ones that don't have the strobe, but thats a neat addition.
