Jess is a good option.

Can you point the Tcase down more like Nolen said?

Another idea - can you relieve the yoke some to clear the ubolts?

Another option might be a Tom Woods high angle ujoint?

Maybe all three?

Ed

Not sure how I could point the tcase down with out re-fabricating the motor mounts and the transmission crossmember. This would also end up raising the engine back up.

I've got a call into Jessie. We'll see what Ideas he has.

Call Jess in the morning.

Put and angle finder on your tcase and see what your drivetrain is sitting at. 0, +1, +2, -1,-2, etc.... he will want that info, along with your pinion angle...

He will need to know this info for any option...1410/1350CV, etc.

good luck!

-Steve

The inspection plate on the bottom of the Atlas is 0 degrees front to back. The pinion angle is 22 degrees. This is all sitting flat in my garage. Will a 1410 do 40 degrees? I think I'm going to need that to cover me on axle droop.

Bruce,

Your truck looks outstanding! Well done for both you and Ed! I do like how you kept the frame intact. Man that thing looks huge now! Not quite the same truck I saw at Round up this year. It will be cool to hear how it spanks the rocks! I am keeping an eye on your spring rate, mine are set at 250/300 and I keep saying they are too stiff. (not on the truck yet but seams just too stiff.)

I have been monster swamped, my truck has been put aside temp. as other shop demands come first. (Problem owning the shop, your junk is always #48 on the list!) I will get some photos up once I can spend some time dropping down the 1 MB photos.

Mark

Thanks Mark,

How do you like the looks of the installed HyperJoints?? I think they look sweet! Thanks again. Looking forward to wheeling with you at the Roundup.

looks supa clean mang. spring rates seam light for the location imho... but???

also i would definatly recomend gusseting those upper links.

sic cruzah btw

Yeah the jury is out on the springs... We'll see.

Specifically what part of the upper links do you think need gusseting? Not clear on what part of the upper link is of concern.

Thanks

What are friends for?? :flipoff2: :flipoff2: ;)

;) HERE IS A PIC....

with teh housing being only being about 3/16-1/4 thick it might rip. so i would spread the load a bit. with some tubing and plate. with the upper being triangulated there is a lot of side load also. better safe than sorry ya know.???

Just making sure that you end up paying for the discount he gave me :flipoff2:

Bruce, what is the measurement from the bottom of your frame rail to the ground?

for some reason, that last pic make the rig look pretty tall....and that d-shaft angle steeper than I expected it to be....

25"??
I saw it somewhere.

It is REALLY hard to make a full bodied rig sit low with 42's and stock fenders. you lose a lot of uptravel.

24" not aired down.

I guess that could not hurt Ryan.

I have the same setup on my 9" housing on my Mog9 and it has held up without anything but the towers.

Was thinking the same thing, the guys who designed them are engineers, prolly hit the drawing board when they design those links.

And like wngrog said, they hold up to the force of a portal axle......

How about a big D hook on the top of the housing with a scab plate to help with the force?

The cruiser looks awesome.
Whats the width between the lower links at the axle?

Guys - I'm amazed at how long details take.

This weekend I did nothing worth taking a picture of but i put in a ton of hours...

Fabricated a mount for the transmission cooler
Cleaned up a bunch of wiring.
Remedied an electrical leak that Ed diagnosed for me - Finally - I've been
scratching my head on this for a long time and 2 Optima Red tops later.
Installed a BeCool aluminium Radiator and my old Taurus Fan.
Patched the hole in the transmission hump - where the stock transfer case shifter used to go through.
Reinforced my transmission hump and mounted the cutting brake.
Mounted the Line Lock switch.
Thought for ever and finally figured out how I want to do all of my brake plumbing.
And a bunch of misc. other BS.

I guess the good news is that my list to finish is very short.
