Thanks Jason,

Here's the specs:

Wheelbase = 104.5"
Bottom of frame to ground = 24" - Completely flat belly - I'm actually going to recess the skid plate so the frame rails will be exposed. :D
Front Pumpkin to ground = 13"
Rear Pumpkin to ground = 14"
Top of Cage to ground = 7'

:D

When is the hammers trip????

rascal, sweet set up!
if i may ask, on the rear suspension set up, what keeps the axle from swing'n side to side? is there a lateral link that goes in with the 4 link?

thanx
jim

Doubly triangulated 4 link. The links themselves keep lateral movement from happening.
No panhard bar needed

Same rear link setup I have. Works great and keeps rear steer to a minimum..

hmmmmmmmmmmm. nice.... ;)

ok, now all the usual questions. length of uppers, lowers, vertical seperation at axle and frame, a/squat, etc..

looks great bruce! kudos to you and all involved
alot of satisfaction doing most of it yourself (or helping in some cases) eh?

im going to try to make myself some more time this next year to get alot of wheeling/fabwork in on mine. i wanted to have my rear 4-link in before headed back to the hammers in oct but mid-june i decided to uproot my life, close my shop and take a teaching job that was offered to me. been a little too busey to get mine done but its coming.

Jim,

The upper links go from the pumpkin to the top of the frame. The lowers go from the outside of the axle tube to a crossmember on the lower part of the frame and inward towards the center. By creating these oppsing triangles you create a suspension that has virtually no side to side travel.

Got a pic of the upper shock mounts?

Well done job.........

My grasp of the four link design and build is much more clear after this thread.

I was afraid someone would ask me to try to make sense of Ed's spreadsheets... here goes:

Upper Links: 42"
Lower Links: 40"
Vertical Seperation Front: 7"
Vertical Seperation Rear: 12"
Anti Squat: 106%

If any of this is wrong maybe Ed will chime in.

Congrats on the teaching job - our world needs good people like you working with our kids.

Thanks for all of the compliments.

After finally getting to just step back and look at Ed's work - I am pleased beyond words.

The final product is so clean and well designed. I can not think of another 4 link setup that i have seen that was done better.

Not only did the project turn out great - Ed came in under budget.

Ed and i spent a lot of time together over the past few weeks. He is not only a phonomenal fabricator/designer but also a great guy.

Thanks Ed for all of your hard work.

What is the max working angle for a 1350 ujoint? what increase do you get from a CV? I may need to get my new rear shaft rebuilt with CV on the TCase end.

you should run a rear limit strap IMO...mine only droops 2" at the center with the limit, but still allows full stroke of the shocks...MAJOR assistance on steep downhills (no unloading) and doesn't force you to remember to cinch a rear winch (plus no expense or weight)
