I have that. it works for obd2 and also vag-com codes

Yes, they work quite well :)

Although, I'd spend the extra cash and get one that gives you a full description rather than just codes....

A couple weeks back, they had a larger version that did just that for $59

I dont see one on the site can you find it?

I got one. I leave it in the glove compartment. When I get a CEL I can just plug it in and know that it's an O2 sensor instead of worrying that it's something worse.

Well dang looks like Ill have to wait for it. Im gonna get it if it drops back down to 59$.

Edit: Or get better at photoshop.;)

Why? NAPA/Autozone/Checker/[name any other chain parts store] have loaners at the desk where you can check the code in the parking lot for free. When working on a code it's nice to be able to scan and rescan when it comes back, but really...every $60 counts towards quality mods.

I have one. But if it would cost only $100 to get a full scanner (temp) and all, I'd get that instead.

It helps to have a ODB 2 scanner on the trail if you throw a code and need to diagnose or need to clear it.

Good point. It would suck to think that your P0401 was back when it was something that might cause damage sooner if it continued to run. Thanks!

eBay has many cheap OBD readers - I paid $32 including shipping and use it to reset my P0420 code once/year.

Go for more than just a code puller

I recently bought the ELMSCAN OBDII setup to actually log realtime data. I got a P0170 code (fuel trim malfuction) a while back and could get freeze frame data but had no idea of what was really going on. I got the ELMSCAN tool and hooked it up to my laptop and scanned hours of data. I learned that the problem (too lean) only occurs at idle and goes away at speed. I haven't figured out how to fix it yet.

Check EBAY for the best price.

good luck!

have you changed your fuel pressure regulator yet?

Not yet. I wanted to get a fuel pressure guage and check it out first....it seems getting to the banjo fitting to do the pressure check is a big PITA. It might be better to just replace the regulator. My concern is that this all started after replacing the HG. I would think I've got a vacuum or exhaust leak....but a bad fuel pressure regulator makes sense. I didn't mention before, but it is running lean and the LTFT is hitting 30% at idle when the A/C is off. When I turn the A/C on, the LTFT and STFT both drop and most of the time don't trip the CEL code P0170.
