I'm replacing the 4 speed transmission in my 1982 BJ42 with a brand new Toyota H55F 5 spd. I'm wondering if I will need to replace the transmission mount and if so where I can find one. I've got a 3B input shaft and all of the transfer case guts on the way from Canada.

Thank you -

hey
just done that same swap not long ago
cross member should be the same
gear lever and transfer lever holes might be different..
wiring for the reverse switch tacho and 4wd light might be different
after i done the swap on mine i realised the transfer case hits the fuel tank lol and not sure bout the different tailshaft lenghts if any

but other than that a easy swap

hope that helps

cheers...

ummm, Beast, did you locate new shifters?
you will need longer bolts to attach the t/case to the tranny
which model tranny did you buy since the 6* has the shifter 3" back from the H42 and if it is a 4* then it will be correct.
you will need to modify the front and rear driveshafts.

the revs light wiring is dead simple...even i can figure it out.
you might need a longer speedo cable...
