I had put an H41 in my previous 40. I really liked it for off road use. And since that is the main thing I use my 40 for, I'd like to put one in my newer 40. It's nearly time for a new clutch, so it's a good time for the tramny swap. Anyone have one they've decided not to use or know where I can get one for a 77 FJ40?

I assume your looking for the short H41 for the 4.85:1 first gear? If so i have been most sucessful with 4 speeds out of BJ40s with 3B diesels and the swapping out the fine diesel input shaft to a course gas F spline.

Yes. Looking for one that will bolt up to my fj40 with minimal modification. How difficult is it to swap out the input shaft?

I don’t know. I just followed the FSM to take it out and put back in. The hardest part is getting the roller bearings to stay in the input shaft when you install it. Use plenty of grease.

Still looking.

I don’t have any H41 transmissions at the moment, but I think I have an H41 gear set from a diesel in a box. Leave me a voicemail and I’ll have a look tomorrow.😊

looking for a trans for a 1 piece transfer or splitcase?

Preferably for a 1 piece transfer. Unless I can find a combo that is still a pretty simple swap.

Spector Off-road imports them from Australia and rebuilds them. If you wait until their annual “club” sale, you can get them for a decent price.

Returned your voicemail.😊

Still looking. These are harder to find than they were 10 years ago. Maybe I just got lucky back then, I don't know. My clutch is definitely getting week, though. I need to find a transmission soon or I'll just have to replace the clutch without a new tranny.

I have one for a split case. Front input shaft has some wear. Unkown mileage.

Simple swap if it's from a 8/80+ FJ45 or from a HJ47. Those have the split transfer case and the hand brake. Other than those the hand brake was on the rear axle. There are kits to add the hand brake but last price I remember that was listed on mud was $550. Believe some vendors may have kits with the bearing retainer, output shaft and brake drum which are the components needed add the hand brake. Have no idea of the current prices.

I do have a H41 four speed for a one piece transfer case that has for close to thirty years. Has wear on the tailshaft. Never got around to using it. moved on to later 40 series transmission for split transfer case.

You interested in selling me that H41? I'm looking for one that will take as little modification to my truck as possible. Mine is a stock 77 FJ40.

Think the cost of shipping from AZ to Oregon would kill a sale. I haven't pulled the top cover off since I got it. Never been left out in the weather. And still spins on both shafts.
