The 200 was also available without all the luxury. And if you took away all that, it's a very robust frame and drivetrain. Frame is probably more rigid than the 70 series.

If I ever get bored with my 250 I'll downgrade to a 200, but Nah, I like my 250 to much.

For me this is the biggest benefit to getting something new. Old Land Cruisers are great but they are also old. Now that all of the TNGA-F vehicles are officially on the market I am mostly frustrated by the packaging Toyota is offering. Battery humps, tumbling seats, shelves, and some not so flattering design choices.

Do you not see any value in the 250 being on a platform and technology suite that is 15 years more advanced? 1958 also has the hybrid powertrain, which is worth around $3,000. 2025 ORP hybrid is $52k, so you’re paying an extra $3k for the full-time 4WD transfer case with the 1958, which is fair. Perhaps your issue is that all the TNGA F vehicles are too expensive?

At some point, a BOF ICE SUV platform is near-optimized and "upgrades" are incremental at best, or end up as downgrades made under the best of intentions. I regular drive both my 2007 Lexus wife's 2023 Highlander that has the technology/driver assist stuff for a upper/mid-tier LC250/T4R (but not quite a GX550, of course). My 2007 is also upgraded with an Android Auto head unit, with a large screen. But, it lacks most other tech the 2023 has.

Despite the 18 year difference, I miss absolutely nothing in terms of driving experience/tech/comfort about the 2023 getting in the 2007. The only real benefit is fuel economy (half the fuel is used), and the 2023 is a bit quieter, but that's only because the 2007 has an exhaust on it. If anything, the 2007 is simpler more driver-focused instead of being more complex and tech-focused, which I find provides a better driving experience. And that includes logging both short trips and 1,000 mile trips in both rigs.

Correct. Toyota f... all that big time. So many issues being criticized, even by the auto "journalists" that they fly with all-inclusive packages.

I have the much-maligned "light duty" 120 Prado that's apparently not a real Land Cruiser and underbuilt compared to the big-brother 100 and 200.

Despite it's apparently substandard construction and numerous cost and weight-cutting measures, it's still going great at Year 18 and could have another 18 years left in it.

Toyota generally builds vehicles that, if cared for and not abused, will last a very long time. This applies to the top segment of vehicle they build all the way down to the very bottom.

Down here in the Ozarks, we have more than a few beat-to-crap Corollas, Toyota pickups, etc, still running around. Some of the 4x4 trucks get used ever bit as hard as a Toyota of War LC - legit hillbilly work of hauling logs, taking coon dogs down rough roads etc. - and are still doing fine after 30 years or more.

The Toyotas certainly hold up much better than domestic trucks of the same generation - with the exception of the venerable squarebody Chevy. Lots of those are still being used as log/farm trucks despite being up to 52 years old. Cheap parts and lots of donors in salvage yards probably help with that.

The Tundra is so cheap and plastic inside, seat plastic on side bolster, radio knob breaks off, stupid outlet gimmicks, infotainment is horrible, poor resolution and functionality is just flickted compared to Jeep GC, Mazda, take your pick and that's not a hard one to beat (hey Toyota it's 2025).

Add the wonderful service experience from Toyota dealers that seems to be trickling to Lexus now, "we didn't see the issue you speak of, have a good one" or similar nonsense. Can't wait to give the Tundra back on lease and just bought a GX470, once that Tundra hits 35900 it's getting parked until next year, no chance that's on me out of warranty. And never again new with Toyota, it'd be nice if we got a real vehicle like the 70 series but not in this lifetime without being 25yrs + old. YES I'm salty, YES I feel scammed and was hyped on the koolaid for the new truck before motors started going boom, and YES, old Toyota good, new not so much. Just DON'T DO IT, you've been warned. Wait until more TT motors in the other trucks start going boom more, it's already happened. OP - GLWTS and keep truckin'

I've mentioned this in other threads, but I got to ride in an off-highway 70 at a mine up in Canada. I was as excited as a kid in a candy shop when I saw it in the parking lot - and even more excited when offered the invitation to hop in it.

I hate to break it to folks, after riding in that Canadian 70, I realized it's not much different in terms of fit/finish/robustness than my personal solid-axle, manual, diesel, locked vehicle. Except mine is available in readily in the US and about 1/4 of the cost new!

The 200 (mine was a ‘21 LC, so granted this isn’t a Lexus to Lexus comparison), had touches of luxury but still felt utilitarian. The LX600 feels more luxury than utility. That’s not a bad thing, because we all know it is a fully capable LC, so you get the best of both worlds.

The interior/driving position encapsulates the driver and passenger with soft touch materials whereas the 200 “cockpit” felt more open. The LX600 is very nimble and drives less like a truck. This is a much more enjoyable vehicle to drive, but it is so refined it feels like it belongs on the pavement. Meanwhile, the GX550, although it’s a Lexus, has an interior that feels very utilitarian.

I only do light off-roading relative to most on this board and only a few times/yr as there isn’t much nearby. But simply put, our family uses the LX600 as our comfortable road trip vehicle and the GX for camping/4WD roads.

A few relative comparisons based solely on my opinion with the 4 vehicles…

Interior space: 200 > 600 > 250 > 150
Build quality: 200 > 600 > 250/150
MPG: 150 > 600 > 250 > 200
Responsiveness: 600 > 250 > 200/150
Creature Comforts/Tech: 250 > 600 > 200 > 150

Your comparison is missing a big piece: LX570. You are comparing an LC200 to a LX600 in comfort quality when you should actually compare against the LX570. I have no experience with 600 but have with both LC and LX and the LX is far more comfortable: AHC is really that good.

I have no skin in this, and I do not have an opinion about the new rigs, but I was curious what all the noise was that it spilled in the 200 forum.
I own turbo cars and I really love my sport wagon. I think the turbo tech is well developed, robust and very versatile. You can achieve good fuel consumption and get lots of power from the same engine as needed (of course not both at the same instant, more power requires more fuel), at lower volumetric capacity than NA engines.
What baffles me is that according to the posts I read here, mr. T was not able to design/execute this properly despite building legendary turbo cars in the past.

I get around 15.8 on my 600 vs 11-12 on my 570. I'm also heavy on the accelerator.

The 570 has 295/70R17 BFG KO2s though while the 600 has 285/65R18 Wildpeak AT3's though so that probably affects it some too.
