Hi All, I'm new to the forum. Picked up a 2007 GX470 with 142k a couple of days ago. Looks it it spent most of days in Florida and Tennesee. I wanted a 4wd, (the past couple of winters have been kinda challenging) and I work in a hospital so bad weather is no excuse for not showing up. And I need to tow a small camper once a year. I sold a 2wd Yukon XL which I loved but the misses hated driving the "bus" I own a couple other Lexus vehicles so I pulled the trigger. I purchased the gx from a reputable used car dealer. So, after 27 hours of ownership the CEL came on. The awful P1445 code. Now, here is the deal. I loaded the VIN in Lexus Drivers and saw that the car truck has been traded in to a Lexus dealer in Tennessee. Sent to detail for auction, then it must have thrown the code as the dealer has it in the service record. So, instead of fixing the problem , they cleared the code and sent to auction. I took the truck and my information back to the used car dealer the next day. Of course it was a As Is sale, with a 3k mile power train warranty. The dealer scanned the code, called a friend at a local Toyota dealer and agreed to split the repair cost with me. Which, he could have told me to take a hike. So, the discounted repair was $1720. Which is better than the Lexus $3000 deal. My part was $860. I usually have to buy new tires for used cars I buy, so I'm just gonna call it a wash. Toyota corporate and that Lexus dealer in Tennesee should be ashamed.

Sorry that happened to you bro ... how's the undercarriage look ? ... mine also some/most of its life in FL and I didn't find out till later how badly rusty things were under the vehicle...
On a better note though congrats on the new ride and welcome to the Wood Grain Warrior family
Anyone here will tell you you won't be disappointed

The undercarriage looks fantastic. And the previous owner serviced the car like a clock. Actually that's why I bought this particular car. The truth is I was looking for a Land Cruiser and absolutely was striking out. I drove 3 hours to buy one last Wednesday, 2004 with only 115k miles. Price was 17k. Talked to the dealer and off I went. Crawled under the car and the rust was way more than I was comfortable with. I could flake pieces off with my finger in some areas. So I turned around and drove home and bought the GX. I already own a ES350 and a SC430 so I was really surprised about the crappy parts Toyota put in the Secondary Air system.

Welcome to the forum sorry to hear about your new problem. The guys on this forum are second to non and will help anyway they can! This is my 2nd GX470, my wife has a GX460 and I also have a 94 land cruiser. I might be obsessed.... I am not sure...

I always hate it when you get a new vehicle and crap goes wrong with it always makes you so nervous cause it's so much money you're spending. I just hate when problems happen with my vehicles period. What ended up being the problem with it? You're gonna love these things they're a blast

Wingysataday, the problem was the Secondary Air Injection System.. IE smog pump. A crappy part that toyota knows is faulty. :)
If/when mine fails, I'm probably doing this.

Jlee. That was my backup plan if the dealer didn't help with the repair. I still may buy one to have in case it fails again. Hopefully the Guvment won't stop them from selling that part but one never knows..

Look on the 100 series tech section of this forum. I believe there is a GM smog pump that works on the 4.7's and its pretty cheap. Can't recall the details but I've seen it somewhere
