2007 gx470 ran great, parked for a week in heated garage, wont start. It cranks like it should but will not start. I'm not too sure how to check for fuel flow or spark. I tried battery disconnect but that did nothing. Any help would be welcome, thanks

Depending on your area, pack rats and squirrels like to get under the hood. Remove the 3 plastic covers over the engine compartment and see if all the hoses and wiring seem intact. Other than that, I'm not sure. Any lights on the dash? Have an OBDII dongle to pull any DTCs?

It’s not a new key you are trying, right?

No, it's the same old key. I'll try to figure out how to test the fuel pressure tomorrow. I really hoped there was a reset button somewhere to push and all would be good again. The gx only has 125k on it and is in great condition. I've had it for about 6000mi. and it has been flawless. until parking it a week ago.

Does the 4.7 have a schraeder valve to check fuel line pressure?

Sounds dumb...but replace the key fob battery. Easy test. If it loses enough charge it won't power the transponder. Otherwise, if you have a known good battery, there have been a rash of fuel pumps taking a dump lately.

Battery on key going dead is a good one. Try replacing key battery.

Pretty sure the immobilizer chip is independent of the battery that operates the remote. I dug an old chip out of a busted key and placed it in a new key fob and it started the vehicle without programming. Still curious to find out what it was....out of gas?? :)

Sorry for the long wait......…….. My problem was the fuel pump. I dropped the fuel tank and replaced it. Problem solved. It was strange that it should crap out after sitting for a week but that's what happened. After replacing the fuel pump ( the following day ) my altenator quit charging. Took it off to have it tested on a stand and was told it was fine. turned out to be a fuse in the cabin that is connected to the wire that tell the altinator to charge. Its been four months all is well. Thanks everyone, Melz

You are correct, the transponder is passive like an RFID tag. During a remote start install, the fob transponder will be extracted and taped inside the ring that is around the ignition key. That whole ring will be relocated under the dash somewhere and zip-tied, no battery required. Security and ignition kill will then be handled by the remote start unit.

Glad you got her up and running Melz! 🍺 :) Super strange that the fuel pump quit during a period of non use though...definitely would not be my first guess!

Yea, it wasn't mine either. I spent three days looking elsewhere. This was Jan. cold and snowey but was in a dry, warm shop and I didn't have to be anywhere else. It was frustrating, but in hindsight, pretty enjoyable. Melz
