You know, I've never had sliders on any vehicle and I've never crumpled a rocker or a door. Obviously different terrain, different use case, etc., means not everyone needs sliders. I personally am trying to keep this a stock+ build and as light as possible to, as GFC says it, "go fast go far". Sliders - to me - are an unnecessary expense, add a lot of weight, encroach on my entry and egress (I hate side steps and similar because I step over them), and require a certain amount of upkeep to ensure they stay rust free and solid.

Driving the GX, you'll get spoiled over the high seating position and being to actually see several cars ahead of you!
I've had my share of Porsche's and other low slung cars. Driving them is fun until grid lock (left leg clutch cramp) or some truck or van pulls in front of you and all you see is their tailgate.
The fiancé is sub 5 foot (I'm 6'5"), she'll kill me if she doesn't have a side step to get in, ha
I just slide right in, so no problem here at least!
I am in a similar boat, albeit not as tall as you, but my fiancé is 5 foot, and got pissed when I took off the steps to undercoat because she thought they weren't going back on. Curious to hear what you end up installing, I don't rock crawl and haven't done any serious offroading but I am not a huge fan of the side steps.

You might consider Slee's sliders. They match a stock-ish GX very well.

As mentioned above, there are some nice rock sliders, e.g.: Slee. They can be painted your body color, add a strip or two of traction tape and unless one looks close, they'd be hard pressed to see it wasn't factory.
Aside from saving your rocker panels while off roading, they are also great, I mean really, really helpful in a side impact collision (T-bone). Ask me how I know.
My sliders saved me from possibly totaling my rig when being T-boned once. From the accident, all that was needed was a new right passenger door and the plastic molding strip for the right front door. Those sliders saved my arse from a lot more damage.
Just something to think about.
Or the Victory 4x4. I believe those fit the 460's form the most, and they're wide and relatively low for a slider.

Just depends on application. I am trying to keep up with Rubicons on 35s and 37s so I am getting DOM sliders with a square maintube from the same dude that Tru's Service Manager used. Will probably put similar ones on the 4runner. Just a matter of time before they want 34s on it,
too.

Done with my off-road trip to north Georgia. Did my normal Georgia traverse stuff plus a new trail called earls ford, which is just outside of Clayton, if you are familiar with the area. Had a blast! Figured out that the GX on 33s is not near as capable as a rubicon on 35s. Here are some pics and I vote that we get a video thread like the 100 series forum has and I’d post a bunch of videos.
