Prayers out to California! Cannot imagine going through that.
Thanks, although, it's just north of us down here in Orange County, I grew up in L.A. county and know it well.
Never have lost everything to a fire, but I've been very close with having to evacuate my aunt and wonder if there's be a house for her come back to.

I got evacuated from Topanga back in '16. We've been glad to be in the heart of the San Fernando Valley this week. We just went to Palisades High and hiked up into the state park on Sunday, it's crazy how quickly that all changed. I'm really going to miss some of those spots that have burned, it was a regular hangout for us despite having moved to the other side of the ridge.

For any other locals, DM me if you need anything. I've got a big driveway and garage to store cars/belongings if needed. We're going to Pierce College this weekend to see if there's anything we can do to help at the large animal shelter. This community sticks together when the going gets tough, so I'm looking to do my part.
I don't think I ever visited in the winter, that looks nasty. Cool place in the summer though, it's an amazing place for bird watching.

I wouldn't without some really good shoes, ideally winter rubber for the softer tread compound.

It was still passable with a few inches of snow. I would think anything more than 4 or 5 would be a snow wheeling expedition for a group, just to take the back roads, because of drifting snow.

2-3 inches caused an intermittent ground blizzard.

Oh man, I did some reeeaaaally careless things as a youth in Colorado. You'd be surprised where you can go with an '80s Subaru, some skinny all-season tires and a youthful sense of invincibility.

Oh I am sure. Most of my early winter driving experience was with 2wd mini-trucks and I was similarly minded.

look at this abomination I saw

Nothing like taking the worst parts of the 4R Ltd and the GX and putting them together in one shi-t brew!

Edit, TRD Sport pillar badges and quarter window subdued flags. I hate this guy!
Yeah it was bad, had some morimoto-esque taillights that really pulled the whole thing together (they didn't). It was a woman driving it, but I imagine her husband came up with this lol

I chalk it up as Ali baba and its consequences

Drove around in the mountains. Did the Forest Road 217 to 105. Didn't try any of the side trails as I was just poking around Nokians were amazing.
Hit a few other forest roads then hit Glen Haven and took this pic of Estes Park on my way out of town.

I'm overdue for a Denver trip, hopefully later this year or early in '26. Let's do some wheeling when I make it out there!

If my schedule permits it

I picked up this clean one-owner Californian GX last June and it's been such a joy to drive! I'm going for an OEM+ style build this time around after overbuilding my previous 4Runner for my needs. So far I've put on some 285/70/17 Falken Wildpeak AT3s with SCS Gen 5s, Diode Dynamics SS3 fog light kit and a basic Sherpa crossbar setup for my GFC Superlite I run in the summer. I'll be doing the Beatsonic head unit upgrade down the line, but what else am I missing? I don't plan to lift it for a few years, if at all.

What did they replace / how are you liking them?
They replaced my 4 yr old K02'S which were pretty worn out and one had a puncture. So far so good with the K03's. I like the new tread pattern and sidewall. Also, I went from load C to load E.
I've already put over 1K miles on them in just a few weeks driving back & forth from SoCal to AZ. Mostly highway miles with some fire roads. Unfortunately, we haven't had any rain this winter and there's none in the forecast, which SoCal desperately needs right now... so I cannot report on wet weather handling. But I'm definitely loving the upgrade so far.

Are those the sport, pro, or max SS3 foglights?

That's a great start! Upgrade as needed. If you start wheeling it you can trim the front and rear bumpers, add skid plates and rock sliders, a hidden winch, and it'll likely do everything you ask of it. Otherwise just drive it and maintain it.
