I was going to do the same thing until I got the Victory Blitz bumper a couple days back. I wanted to see how it looked prior to getting the rock sliders (since they don't add ground clearance). Then my Blitz bumper came in and everything changed.
I'm still in the early stages of that nightmare, so I'm looking elsewhere for sliders. Just thought I'd let you know.
Poured, yes. But float glass far extends the limitations of pours/casting.
I did my undergrad about an hour from Corning, as you may guess a Ceramic Engineer. Funny that you went nuclear, my father was a nuke on submarines.
Alfred? That is where I was forced to go in the 70's LOL. Didn't have much choice in the matter was groomed from an early age. Much of my family worked at Corning either main campus or Wellsboro, Pa. plant.
I ended up surface but was in Navy Nuclear Power School with this gentleman who ended up being in charge of the US Sub force and %XX of the US Nuclear weapons before he retired a few years ago. 2 Star Upper Half, and he deserves it
He called me yesterday and we are already looking forward to our Cast and Blast in the Sunset Country of Canada. Only 90 days away! Hard to believe and summer doesn't even start for 3 more days yet.

The submariner world is very interesting. I have a maintenance tech who is retired navy, he was in the first boomer converted to transport SEALS and deploy them via missile tubes. I know the sacrifices my father made being offshore for weeks/months, so I have a lot of gratitude and respect for those who choose that path.
I haven’t done anything exciting since having my lift installed two weeks ago, but here is how it sits currently. Fox performance elite 2.5 up front and 2.0 rear with Icon springs. Lift was supposed to be 2”f/1.5”r. I didn’t take measurements.
Ceramic engineer, with a BFA, that’s awesome. I’m a ceramic artist (BFA/MFA) and have been to Alfred a few times for lectures and shows, obviously a great program. I always liked glaze chemistry and the more technical side of ceramic material and process. You graduated in 2010, I probably know some people that overlapped with you!

Corning Glass put a lot of money into Alfred that was their baby back in the day and likely still is. Have a hard time saying just Corning as that is the town. I still think of it as Corning Glass Works, at least until I see a fiber optics patch panel labeled Corning in a data center. That does put a smile on my face.
I completed my BFA coursework and show in 2008. If you know people from that timeframe, I was an Alfred staple from 04-10. Most would recollect the structure fire in 09 that took the sporting goods store, liquor store and forced “the jet” to relocate to the former sub shop building. My roommate and I were blamed for that fire.

I’m sure I do know some of your contemporaries! Won’t drop any names on this online forum. But I did get to see the grandfather of (art) ceramic glaze chemistry give what I think was his last lecture there.
I also run in the iron circles and know the faculty in the sculpture area well.
I believe I know the names you’re referencing for each. My BFA was predominantly functional ceramics and wheel thrown elements for sculpture. I was also one of the founding members of the technical glass blowing club.

Looking for fishies in CO earlier this week.
2,700 miles in the GX this past week doing a big loop of the Canadian Rockies to the PNW. Some of the nicest rolling hills, canyons, rocks, and dense forests I've seen. The truck didn't skip a beat, and we camped out of it for a few days - found a few things I'd change but I guess the thing to remember is that you just gotta go out and do it, ready or not. Thanks for having us Idaho, Alberta, BC, Washington and Oregon. We hope to be back soon to see the things we missed.

I've had enough rain for awhile, and going with the draught is officially over LOL. Parts of Iowa and Mn. as you know have been hit pretty hard even I90 was closed for a bit. Extremely large tree down in my front yard I cleared what was in the driveway but going to leave the rest of it for the pros.
Not sure if you have paid attention to it but the tip of the Mn. Arrowhead was hammered over the last week. Friend in Silver Bay got 6" in one day alone. All 3 Counties ran out of road closure signs. I wouldn't recommend a trip up there for another couple of weeks, even many entry points into the BWCA are closed. SAR had to go in and rescue a number of people. Including my friend in Silver Bay they had to find and pull a body out of the water inland.
Forest Service has started putting up some pictures. If you want a challenge it would be worth a trip for you. In a bit. From what I've heard and read this is pretty common
Going to be an interesting time come October, even more so than usual.
