I haven’t done anything exciting since having my lift installed two weeks ago, but here is how it sits currently. Fox performance elite 2.5 up front and 2.0 rear with Icon springs. Lift was supposed to be 2”f/1.5”r. I didn’t take measurements.
That looks great. Are you still running the 265/65-18 AT-3’s?

Who’s got the sweet Nori GX in Kitsap County I stalked, I mean, spotted the other day?

Thanks! I had a lot of discussion with John at AccuTune prior to purchase. It’s definitely overkill for my overall build plan, but leaves flexibility for the future.
Yes, for now. I’ll be moving to 265/70-18s once these wear down a bit more.

You’ve really struck that fine balance between competent trail truck and daily driver. I can only imagine the /70’s will look even better.

Like others, I’m hung up on the 18” wheels and considered 17’s, but you’ve got me convinced!

Not mine 😍

But in 81 and 82 at that spot in Gorst twice a day you would have seen my FJ55 Iron Pig go by between the Yards and the place I lived in Belfair

Lived less than 100 yards before the Belfair Tahuya road went up the hill to Tahuya State Forest. Spent a lot of time up that hill and shot my first blacktail there still have the European mount. The Hood Canal floating bridge was not floating back then it had sunk so had to go all the way around to get to the Olympics. Spent a lot of time on Hamma Hamma, Dosewallips, and the Dungess. As well as exploring every NF road in the Olympics. Was one of the best places I ever lived. Just looked it up on Google and now like everywhere else there are roads, homes and buildings in much of the area where I used to live compared to what it use to be. Thanks for the memory jog.

I appreciate it. With all of my builds, my goal has been to stay true to OEM design and intent. I had a grasp of my current reality, which means the GX is my daily kid hauler and road trip vehicle and capable when I get to have some fun.

Scooped this 2021 with 30k miles a few weeks ago. Been lurking all over this site and already starting a list of things I want to change. I'm coming over from the Audi world (2015 allroad and 2012 S4 swapped A4 Avant) and Subaru world (2005 Legacy GT) before this, all being modified. It's a different world over here modifying to get further from the ground instead of closer to it.

Initial plans are wheels and tires (thinking 17x8.5 et0 and 265/70/17 tires likely Wildpeak AT3 - still trying to figure out if I can do this without needing to modify anything in the wheel well area) and roof rack and going from there. I'd like to do exhaust to hear more of the V8 but don't want it crazy loud or droney. So far I've really only seen the Magnflow mentioned.

Just ordered a sticky dash scosche mount to start based on what I've been seeing here.

Tons of great build threads for inspiration. Looking forward to seeing where things go.

Congrats on the truck!

Like @Banandalorian said, you shouldn't need to do much for 265/70r17 on a 0 offset wheel. I just installed 285/70r17 on 17x8.5 0 offset and used some zip ties on the front and just trimmed the side skirt on the rear. Took about 10 minutes work to get it to stop rubbing.

Congrats on your new ride!
As I mention to many who are new to building off road rigs, before you do anything, put together an end game, e.g. after it's all said and done, what do you want it to be capable of and how do you want it to look.
Then figure out the "stages" of application, and again e.g.: 1st: rims and tires; 2nd: suspension; 3rd: skids plates and sliders; 4th: and so on.
Maybe not in that order and/or maybe not all those mods, but, you get the idea. Doing it in stages also helps with the budget.
The main idea is to not keep purchasing over and over again, because of constantly changing ones mind on what they want to do or worst yet, buying cheap and finding out it doesn't work.
Some folks go into it all expedition and overland and never hit dirt. Some build mall cruisers (only suspension and tires) and think they can conquer King of the Hammers (if you don't what what that is, look it up, it's amazing!). Figure out what/where you want to go and build accordingly.

So in ending this post, wish you the best and looking forward to pictures and stories as you journey through your build and into the wilderness!

I used a zip tie and it's held for two years. Took it back to the body mount. I am on team Roadkill.

Thanks for the info! I sort of see it staged this way at the moment:

1) Wheels, tires, underbody coating (want to avoid rust living in the lovely NE), exhaust, roof rack (I already have a Thule box for skis), maybe an awning. I want something to cover me at the rear gate if I'm using it to get ready at the mountain while it's snowing. I need to look to see if there's a rear-only type of awning versus going all out for a 270 degree. I want to look into making it comfortable for short term sleeping in the back if I want to take it camping while keeping the third row. Maybe do rear tails to get rid of all of the chrome. I'm not in love with the entertainment system so maybe change it up with the GROM, Beat-Sonic, or Naviks. Look into mild upgrades to lighting.

2) After driving that for a while and doing hopefully some very mild trails with that setup, figure out if I want to lift. I'm thinking no more than a 2" lift. I don't really ever expect to do extreme trails and this is my DD. I'm a short commute to work at the moment, but it'll be doing all of my driving and I do a lot of snowboarding so I'm always driving into the snow. If I do the lift, explore the idea of larger tires but keeping the 17x8.5 et0 wheel. Might consider doing a rear spare mount, though i like the look either way so maybe do it even if I don't go bigger tires. At this point maybe look into underbody protection (skids, etc.). A pipe dream is a roof-top tent but I don't do a ton of camping right now to begin with so it seems like a lot for the use I'll get out of it.

3) If I'm into it, bumper upgrades. I saw someone mention the Victory Blitz in another thread and I really like the look of it. I think the front wheel arch section of the bumper is too constraining on the GX platform versus how the Toyotas slope away from the wheel on most of their models.

4) Sky's the limit. I have spent a long time driving heavily modified cars so I'm trying to keep this one very DD-able without having to constantly worry about it. It's unlikely I'll ever make it to stage 3. Stage 2 is within reach but want to see how it drives with the Stage 1 stuff first.

And don't forget the ever handy heat gun!1

Same, I took the bolt and bolt retainer completely out and used 24" zip ties. Has held very well.

@snowGX460, here is a post on how I adjusted my fender wells to fit 275/70s on 17x8.5 +0 wheels. Very simple 30 min project in the driveway and completely reversible minus the holes drilled in the front lower fender liner (which nobody would ever notice).

I have a lifetime supply of Panduit zipties. They last very well but can be pricey.

You didn't have to do anything in the rear to make that fit? Or any special alignment?

Your setup looks fantastic, btw.

If you're doing a full rack, you can mount a skinnier awning on the back. OVS, ARB, and a few others make them and they're cheaper than a full awning too.
