I purchased a 2018 GX460 with ~28,000 miles on it a couple of weeks ago. I'm pretty sure it had never been off-road, and I couldn't wait to plan my first camping trip and see what it could do. I went some public lands this weekend and camped. The roads were in pretty good condition and unfortunately it didn't rain so I didn't really get to see what it could do. There were a couple of spots where it was clayish sand I drove through where I could feel the gx go sideways a tiny bit, and a couple of steep climbs but nothing that really tested the GX. I was amazed at how confidence inspiring the gx is.
I have a Kayak and the GX is replacing the SUV I use to haul it, so I had to get a rack for the GX. I reached out to Gamiviti ready to purchase a specialized rack to protect the spoiler from the kayak, but after talking to them and them sending me pictures we decided the normal Essential Expo Rack fit my needs. (Not often that a company talks to you into spending less money.) The Gamiviti is pricey for sure, but I didn't want a bolt-together-rack. Once I saw the attention to detail and the quality of the rack I knew it was 100% worth the cost. I've had occupational welding and machining training and both were quality on the Gamiviti. With the holes in the gussets for hooks, the sun roof cutout and the spacing of the plates among other things you can tell the rack has undergone multiple iterations until it has reached close to perfection.
No squirrels but we still had a great time.
