I don't understand either of these statements? Explain to me like I'm retarded (I am).

When I'm in 4lo and unlocked it is just as difficult to make a tight turn as in a part time 4wd vehicle that is in 4lo. I also don't understand how activating the center lock would change turning radius for the better?
AWD = a GX when the CDL is unlocked. 4WD/4x4 = A GX where the CDL is locked, or a part-time 4x4 vehicle in 4x4 low or high range.

Turns unlocked/AWD mode and in 4LO should be no different than unlocked and in 4HI, only the vehicle is geared down more.

It's a feature I use all the time, BUT my GX also gets a lot of towing duty. When moving into our not-quite-finished house, we rented a cargo trailer and pulled it with the GX. Loaded, it was probably 5,000 pounds or so. Backing up to my garage to unload it at the time involved a cramped 90 degree turn, then a steep gravel-covered slope to the garage door itself. It's not possible to back a trailer up that with a 2WD vehicle, as a ton of contractors who worked on the house struggled with the same slope with their 2500 trucks.

My GX....no problem. 4-LO gave it plenty of torque and allowed me to go slow on the maneuver, while running it in AWD mode let me make the sharp turn with no steering binding. Kind of funny as my cabinet guy couldn't get up it at all with his Ford PSD and a similar-sized trailer. He just spun out, then his hitch dug into the gravel.

I also run in 4-LO with the CDL unlocked often when wheeling on non-technical things where I want to go slow. I'd have a hard time going to a part-time 4x4 vehicle after getting spoiled by the functionality of the AWD GX. Not to mention how much better the AWD on the GX is on gravel, snow, and wet roads (where it's basically drives like a big, heavy Subaru) than a part-time vehicle is.

I need to do a lot of things someday :-) … sliders really should be my next mod but I’m careful ( I do have skids and didn’t once hit anything). I went up to Lion Rock today above Ellensburg. That side is a paved road but if you come in Liberty side (I went in this way) it feels like a creek bed in parts. Check out the Liberty Cafe in the area you won’t regret it for food.

I haven’t been up there in a few years. This sits not too far from where Driving Sports TV off-road course is located. I often drive by seeing him testing vehicles on that hill.

Great pictures! Thanks for posting them brings back a lot of memories. There is a place in the Olympics on top of a mountain where when the cloud ceiling is low enough you see just the mountain tops of the Cascades. All the way down to Oregon up into BC. Rainer is straight across the Sound and to the right of it is old flat top. There was a thread on Upland Journal back on May 18 asking where you were on May 18 1980, 45 years ago when Mount Saint Helens blew.

I was sitting off the coast of Iran during the Iranian hostage crisis situation at the time. And had a stretch of 118 days straight at sea the longest of any ship since WW2. About 6 months prior to the blow is when the Hood Canal bridge sank during a storm.

Keep promising myself that I will make it back to that mountain and get that view again. It has changed a lot over the years since then. Last Tuesday shot sporting clays with a retired Navy Chief Gunners Mate he was DEVGRU armorer that retired in Wa. and is a contract hunter doing Wildlife Control for the WDFW. He only gets about 3 months of work a year so rough job LOL. He is the nephew of a coworker that is a retired Sr. Chief. Talking to him I was a bit shocked how much things have changed from almost half a Century ago.

Favorite commercial of all time

Same location today that someone recreated this year

I need to carry my arse back there sooner than later.

Interesting personal history you have. I was young but remember that situation vividly on the news with Iran..at home I think something about yellow ribbons being tied up too in support of hostages.

I had forgotten about that Rainier commercial :-)

I do remember when St Helens blew… we could hear and feel the shockwave hit the side of the house roughly 121 miles to the north. I think the last I read on it was that the blast was equivalent to 24 Megatons.

Also remember when bridge sank because my father was heading out to fish on the coast and they had to drive around the following weekend.
