What I meant was as soon as you put in a sport mode usually drops you down and unless you're going fast you won't see 6th. I don't get fast enough in sport to get to S6. Maybe it's my tune? Lol
I sometimes run in S6 in cruise just to give the cruise more direct throttle response. Helps at higher elevation.

Everything helps after going with 34s.

I may also occasionally send it 'round the outside.

As long as I am faster thab a TRD PRO 5th gen 4runner, I am golden.

This is the biggest reason I decided to get the tune. Northern Michigan speed limit is 75 and on mild hills, the transmission is completely at a loss. I knew it would only be worse pulling a 3-4k lb boat.

Got back last night from the UP of Michigan. Was there since last Wednesday for the Yooper Side by Side Shotgun Classic shoot. 734 miles round trip and no 75 mph speed limit along the way, the path from here is across the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest in Wi. Those that lived in downstate Mi. and East, Ohio and Indiana, left after the awards banquet on Saturday night. The Mackinac Bridge crossing on Sunday's they all said is a 2-4 hour wait due to road construction.

I tow my Ranger Northstar around 3K pounds just a bit over often including this trip. Speed limit in South Dakota is 80 and when towing I keep it ~75 mph, same as I do on most Interstates around here which is 70. With a trailer things can happen really fast above that or even below and nothing good comes out of a blown trailer tire. I don't skimp on trailer tires.

First thing I do on my new Polaris Rangers is take them to Terry Gilomen in Northfield, Mn. for his ECU tune. People send him their ECU's from all around the world but I drive an hour and drop the buggy off for a couple of days and let him play with the clutching and beef it up, also go with a low RPM tune. Takes it from 82 hp to over 100 hp plus many other changes. Worth every penny it turns it into a beast.

Not totally convinced on the GX yet hey I'm watching you LOL. 11 years with a Taco the shifting in the GX is much improved especially in CC and towing. Compared to a Taco and FJ at least.

Not a lot of billboards in the UP but this one caught my eye and had to stop and take a picture

He wants $600 for 19+ GX 460's.

I am winding down for the season and looking forward to some playing in the snow. Looked like it was snowing on the Continental Divide OMW home from work.

Hit a bunch of awesome trails, including making it all the way up to Wheeler Lake without needing to winch, before it was nerfed. Truck needs some maintenance, and the skids pounded back into place. Radiator should be in next week or so.

So the Gluetread sidewall patches are pretty neat. I cut my sidewall on a broken metal culvert yesterday and didn't want to drive 1/2 mile to get somewhere flat enough to use a jack.

Followed the Gluetread instructions for the patch, reinflated the tire, and drove around for the rest of the day with no issues.
Good to know. I have one stashed in the back of my rig for a similar future scenario.

Got my first flat on the trail yesterday. Slashed the sidewall as well, but only had plugs.

The nice thing about the slash was it wasn’t losing air unless it was at the bottom of the tire rotation. I aired it up and drove down the mountain to a flat area were I could change my tire. Every rotation I heard a “pssshh” “pssshh” “pssshh”. Had to stop once to put air back in. I came home and immediately ordered the Gluetread kit.

Now I’m going to find out if America’s Tire is going to honor that tire certificate I purchased.

Hope they stand behind it.

Yea, I had 3 trail.related flats last year two of which required off pavement tire changes.

I was riding dirty, now I’m forced to get an off road jack. Lol that dinky car jack served its purpose, but I need something far better.

I have the oem jack and a 1st gen sequoia jack. I need to get the adapters still.

I prefer the toyota jacks. They are slow but they move predictably.

Inuse my traction boards as a jack base.

Normally sidewalls are not covered by tire companies, or anyone else for that matter. Good luck hope they do for you though! I know the feeling

I carry a plug kit and sidewall kit for the Polaris Ranger because there is no spare. I really should do the same for the GX. I do 5 tire rotation for that reason.

LCP Jack adaptor? I keep forgetting about it and when I do remember our size is not in stock. Hey look! they are in stock again thanks
;) Not sure it will get here before I leave for the Gunflint Trail and Cook County on Oct. 1 but guess I will find out. I too prefer the OEM jack.

Up until the GX I used a Hi-Lift in all my rigs for ~50 years. Even bought a new one when I got my Taco in 2013 and built storage for it inside the cab.

But I've come to appreciate the OEM jack on the GX

That looks about 20X easier to deal with than a Hi-Lift. And it might be possible to stash it between the 2nd row seats and drawers in my GX.

Knock on wood, but I've het to have a off-road tire issue with my GX (outside of getting some sand in the bead when doing donuts on a gravel bar). I did destroy a number of tires wheeling in my old Forester, however :).

Picked the GX up this morning. Hooo boy this is going to be a fun update. The Elka suspension is spectacular. Feels like a new truck, rides like it did when it was stock. Wowowow.

Also I mentioned I've been driving a 2025 4Runner TRD Pro for the last few days for a review (as well as a 2025 Gladiator that I've only put a few miles on, but once you've driven one Gladiator you've driven them all) and getting back in the GX after a few weeks..... man do I love the GX. What a platform, what a truck.
