I have the same (in black) but haven't put them to work, yet.

I like that if a tooth wears down, there’s a little divot behind it where you can drill through and drop in a 1/4-20 or 6mm screw, then just throw a locknut on top to act as the new tooth.
Their medium duty testing with firetrucks is what sold me.

New traction boards. They were on sale last week.View attachment 3936214

With all due respect, not sure if I want to give you a "thumbs up" on your post yet.
Have you done any research on this brand, ActionTrax?
Before I purchased both sets of my MaxTrax, I did a ton of research about them. My first concern was: are plastic traction boards legit?
After determining that, yes they can be legit and work, it now depended upon the manufacturer.
Watching several Youtube videos of traction board comparison vs other traction boards vs a carpet mat, plain wood timber and milled wood, etc. The MaxTrac always came out on top, hence my purchase of two sets. If I'd known that they were coming out with the metal studded boards, I would have waited and purchased those instead.

Truly hope no regrets on the purchase! 👍

Yes, I did exhaustive research, they won every comparison they were featured in and are rated for vehicles significantly heavier than a GX.

Okay, you convinced me. I went back and gave it the "thumbs up"! (not that my opinion means anything 😆 )
I've only used them a few times for recovery and leveling out my vehicle for the RTT, so I can't claim any strong personal usage of them.

In their description it states:
UNKER INDUST Off-Road Traction Boards with Jack Base,
Pair Recovery Tracks 4X4 Jeep Truck Tire Traction Mat with
Bag -Sand,Mud,Snow Ladder Ramps(Red)

With that being stated, there are two claims I would be highly critical of:
  1. Jack Base
  2. Ladder Ramps
Regarding the Jack Base: The reason being, If it's really cold out, (snow) and you place that on the snow for a base for your HighLift, I would wager that it will: 1) buckle and bend or 2) more likely, because of the cold become brittle, crack and break.

Ladder Ramps are used to span a crack or crevice, maybe a not much more than a foot or so wide. Even my MaxTrax will bend unless I have about 3 or 4 of them stacked. I really don't think just two of the above boards stacked will support your GX over a span.

But those are just my thoughts and unless myself or someone else has tested them, take my opinion as a grain of salt, something to spice up your thoughts with in deciding which to get.

You get what you pay for. They would probably last a couple of uses. My cheap boards showed significant wear after a single use.
Shame on you for laughing at Clint's post! 😆

Car and Driver Traction Board test.

The Actiontrax are the highest rated for hardcore use, and frankly I am there, right at the cusp of actual rock crawling so I need to up my game.

They first caught my eye in 2020, but i got cheap ones first. After losing one and damaging 3 I figure I should get proper ones and the Actiontrax consistently scored well as the hard core option if you could justify the price.

I have some Tred Pro’s…. I think ARB rebrands them now

but also have used GoTreads for years as well. They are made in the US and have military contracts.

A lifetime warranty and they also sell replacement parts

Just need them for emergencies in the snow. If i got a use or two out of them i was gonna be happy.

Once I get further along in my project where we will sleep/camp I'll replace them. I just didn't know much about them (traction boards) when I bought them being new to all this. 😆

Just got my 2022 GX460 tuned in southern California by Quoc at TK-421 Tuning Inc. - https://tk421tuning.com. Previously I had a Shift Power throttle pedal remapping device. Worked OK, but transmission shift points still were horrible. Had to mat the pedal to get the truck to downshift, and constant gear hunting on hills on a stock vehicle was pretty ridiculous. Installed the Overland Taylor Torque Tune (OTT tune) mild version (least amount of throttle remapping). AMAZING!!! Should have done this when I bought the vehicle.

Why is the OTT tune better than a throttle position remapping device? I now have experience with both and here is why:
* OTT actually improves drivability around town and on the highway. Improved shifting allows for more sublet accelerator pedal modulation. Don't have to push to the floor to get the transmission to respond. I had to use a more aggressive throttle remapping with the Shift Power to get the transmission to feel responsive while underway (+40% linear). On my stock GX, the mild throttle remapping on the OTT tune was sufficient. Throttle is now less touchy.
* OTT throttle remapping is in the forward Drive only. Maintains factory mapping for Reverse. Shift Power and other like hardware remapping devices are on in all gears, forward and reverse.
* Huge improvement on a stock vehicle. If you are running larger tires with greater rotational mass, I would expect the drivability improvements to be even greater, especially with more aggressive throttle remapping (mild, medium, spicy, and extra spicy remaps available).
* Modest performance improvements in terms or torque and HP. Doesn't seem like much gains here, but it was enough that my GX downshifted noticeably less on long highway climbs, holding gears longer and maintaining speed without needing to downshift. I attribute this to torque improvements.

I will be removing my shift power remapping device and offering it for sale. PM me if interested.

The Bell Lexus 17.76% sale is live. Just ordered my filters and wiper inserts for the year and other random items needing replacement.

Just pick up a GX. Ordered a rear all weather mat from Bell Lexus. Placed the order Sunday. Tracking still shows parts ordered as the latest up date. The mat is on eBay and shows arriving in two to four days when purchased. How does Bell Lexus ship UPS, FedEx?

Few general questions.online parts only show base and luxury when searching. Do I use base for my premium sport? VIN has a G third to late digit versus a Z.

Do not need a heavy off road skid plate for the fuel tank. Mine just has a short leading edge. Part number for the full skid plate looks to be the same as the 4Runner. Is this true?

Stuck in traffic heading up to DC over the weekend and the temp gauge started climbing like it was going to overheat. As soon as I got moving above 30 or so the temp gauge went back to its usual position but what am I looking for here? Thermostat? Fans? Valley Plate? I didn't see any obvious leaks or smell coolant anywhere but a 2017 with 95,xxx miles may be getting into radiator replacement territory.

If you order direct from Bell's website, it usually takes a a few days to get shipped out but it will get there. Most 460s come with the little bike-helmet fuel tank skid that covers the front. I think the Blackline, or maybe the Blackline with options came with the full length fuel tank skid. It's the same as the 4Runner so it makes sense that Toyota and Lexus share a part there.

Check the level but that's a classic fan not working symptom.

Had this happen after being up.to 11k and my radiator had not sucked fluid back in from the overflow it had got air in it. Which with the amount of elevation change i do, is not unexpected.

I had my fan clutch changed just to be safe.

Thank you for the quick response. I did order directly from their web site. Order has been updated saying shipped. UPS says they haven't picked up the package yet. Only about twenty five miles from Bell Lexus. Hopefully it will be here in a few days

Believe the Luxury Off road has the full skid plate as well. Traded in a 2018 TRD Off Road for it. Didn't do any rock crawling but did have it off road on some steep climbs. Never needed any of the controls above the rear view mirror. My biggest problem was keeping up with a group driving fast in two track with rocks hiding in tall grass. Our 04 T4R did ding front skid plate pretty good. Still need to pound it out, pain getting off and on to change the oil filter. Fuel tank on the GX is offset to the driver's side which is less likely to get hit.

I see Bell Lexus the skid plate is only $275 and only requires two more bolts than the short skid plate.
