Is this one equipped with the new e-KDSS? I'm really curious how that compares to the version in our trucks. How's it perform crossing speed bumps at an angle and other low-speed and off-camber bumps? I don't mind getting tossed around in the trails, but that's one place our rigs really remind me of their true nature when cruising around the city.
I haven't specifically done this but will do so before the LC leaves on Thursday

I saw the video fromthe Car Care guy about coolant induced head gasket issues and scheduled my truck for a coolant flush. I thought it was done already, but not positive. If it is original, I will have to plan on pro-actively doing the driver side headgasket ib the next few years.

Apparently blocks are warping. Video
Mileage? I would bet that this is a small percentage of failures. I've never had a head gasket failure in a Toyota/Lexus that I've owned.

I had a whole slew from 80s engjnes. 22Rs

I just passed 120k yesterday and will soon be putting on some serious miles, going from 15k to 30k miles a year. Getting a fuel effecient daily driver is a priority, just depends if the money is there once the move is fiscally settled.

I get it. I've had 5M-GE, 6M-GE, 5S-FE and a 1UR-FE with about a million miles combined. I would flush the coolant and replace. Your motor is only half used even if you treat it like an Altima. Change coolant every 30-50K with the transmission fluid and it should last you far longer than that #CarDude could ever predict.

I'm going to have to do something about the stock exhaust once my new bumper gets here. The OEM muffler hangs too low and will look dumb with a high clearance bumper but I also don't want it to be loud...but I am also toying with an idea of a cutout so it can be loud sometimes.

I have times I wish it was louder, but I really appreciate how quiet it is when camping or in busier parks.

Aside from how the tail pipe looks, you also have the danger of banging your tail pipe into the rear axle and pinching off your exhaust in the middle of nowhere.
I've done this (see below) twice.

First time was here (again, see below)

After doing that twice in as many years, I cut the resonator off and added a turn down just past the muffler. Minimal drone only when engine braking and at a slow speed, and even then you have to listen for it. General sound at any other speeds, can't notice it being any louder at all and I've had this for a year or two.

I too love the the sound of a proper, deep throaty rumble of a V8, but I'd prefer to save that for a sports car and not my overland vehicle. When I'm in the wild, I like to see AND hear as much of nature as possible.

Yep, I have my windows down for my B road videos and you can hear all the birds, it's great! I have seen so much wildlife with this truck.

I very much enjoy my V8 rumble, on and off pavement. BUT it took a Vibrant ultra-quiet resonator, a quarter wave resonator, AND a helmholtz resonator to keep it just a rumble and not an annoying drone. The cabin size coupled with natural harmonics of a V8 can make these rigs very drone-prone, and it's hard to remove unless you are willing to use a spectrum analyzer and spend some time experimenting with building resonators to remove the offending frequencies. Not many shops are willing to mess with it, so it's likely a DIY task.

Anyone done a cowl induction/intake on their 460? Tried looking around but can't find anything on it for these trucks

I've seen a few on FB GXOR where they run a flexible hose from the intake hole in the inner fender up along the inside of the fender back into the cowl area. Hard to find a lot of pictures about it.

In NW Ontario B roads are Branch roads off from Primary (P) roads. O is for Operational and in Mn. would be called a tote or spur logging road. All are dirt, well when they aren't bogs, swamp, flooded or overgrown.

I like birds especially the sound of Bonasa umbellus- the ruffed grouse when they flush. First Nation people called them the Thunderbird they usually startle people when they take off. Very hard to hit with a shotgun 0-60 in 1.5 seconds of course through thick brush and trees. Before my grandfather passed he couldn't walk anymore and he had me drive him through the woods in my FJ55 so he could hear them flush. And light up with a huge smile when they did and he could hear them. They have always made me smile as well.

Record high heat in Sunset Country and Sunday and Monday were tough days. Today was much gooder dog is happy, so am I

The GX has really impressed me I am beyond happy. At the cabin with internet brought in by chipmunks waiting on some pictures to sync yet between phone and drive. Drive 500 miles straight North from my home is always well worth it.

That's exactly what I'm looking for, remember if it was the GXOR FB group or one of the 460 ones?

If IIRC that was a 470 or if it was a 460 he had issues with it later don't remember exactly. Been looking for the same thing for months without any luck I don't want to be a beta tester. If you find something please post it up!

Can't use a snorkel in the boreal forest which is the worlds largest land biome. It would get ripped off in no time.

When I went through this the other day it was half way up the door on the Ranger Trail Boss

Last night after a night of heavy rain it was up to the bottom of the window if it rains again not going to risk it. No way in hell I am taking the GX through it or many others.

Just the cowling wouldn't be too much of a problem, heck if I had the time and money, I could probably design one and 3D print it, but hard part would be the plumbing.
What style are you thinking? Classic Toyota style? Chevy, Ford, Ram truck style? NACA ram air intake?
