The Toyota dealer put brand new Michelin Defenders on mine, slid down the driveway on snow twice in one day with them. They are a far cry from the Michelin LTX tires of 30 years ago.
Yeah I hear you my days of hold my beer and watch this are in my rearview mirror. Have been for quite some time. I bird hunt in NW Ontario past where the pavement ends in North America and also the tip of the Mn. Arrowhead. I have no problem using that gear called R when in doubt now.
Lot of water crossings from beaver dams, or damn beavers, and most times Canadian shelf so hard bottom. Usually. Haven't looked yet but assume there is a mod for relocating the diffs breather with a tube. Depth can be deceptive on some of the flooded roads and often throw a stick for the dog to see how much swimming he does and when he lets go of bottom
And check how strong the current is by how hard he swims.
Last week finally broke down and bought a pair of Wiggy's slip over boot hip waders to check bottom and depth. If it is much over my knees that R thing will come into play. Only need the Wiggy's 6 weeks out of the year but figured get them now and they will ride in the rig for those 6 weeks. And part of the reason I realized that I am going to need a decent storage system. Lot less space than the back of the Taco with an ARE MX topper on it.
Arrived today and 2 hours later. Now to do the fronts on Thursday and get it aligned.

What batteries are you guys liking/running these days? Went to start the truck this morning and it was dead, think the battery is just about toast
Odyssey AGM is the way to go. Usually, Summit Racing or Autozone will have them at the lowest price. We have a group 34R as a starting battery in my GX and another 34 as a deep cycle in our camper. They are much harder to kill than a flooded lead acid.

Might be overkill for me, how much stuff do you have pulling off yours?
Really nothing over stock. I got one since they can be discharged much more than normal battery and still start a vehicle. This is important if I'm camping in the rig and have lights/music on. On those trips I'm often on remote areas and often solo. At some point I'll also add a winch.
The one in our camper will run the fridge and fan for hours when we're towing.
Are those a drop in replacement or do you need to do anything else? Wife got me a winch for Christmas so between that and all my dumb lights a bigger battery seems like a useful upgrade.
Got a Noco GB40 battery starter. You can just leave it plugged into a USB port, so it's always topped off. My main battery was on it's way out. I started my truck at 20 and below 4+ mornings and still only had 50% charge. Would highly recommend buying one of those rather than relying on your main battery regardless of AGM or not. AGM doesn't mean you can start it at a lower SOC, it just means you won't trash the battery going below 10V for extended periods of time.
They are a drop-in replacement, but I also did the diode upgrade to up my charging voltage by around 0.5V. I'm not totally sure it's necessary to do that, you could also top it off periodically with a AGM charger (like a NoCo genius).
The nice thing about them is that they are a combo deep cycle and starting battery. A lead acid battery drops below 12V when you discharge it by around 50%, but a deep cycle will go down to like 30-35% and still give you 12V to start a rig with. So you have more of a buffer if you leave a dome light on or listen to music for too long. As mentioned above, if you do totally discharge one (like we did with our camper), they can be revived with a AGM-specific charger. Our NoCo genius got our totally discharged camper AGM back up to health in around 3 days - and it was below 10V IIRC (I've since installed a battery disconnect switch).
I do also plan to get a NoCo lithium booster pack for my rig as honesty they less bulky than a set of jumper cables and I often camp solo in remote areas, where jumper cables would just be a paperweight.
Regarding the brand, I went with an Odyssey as we liked the one in our camper and no one locally had a group 34R AGM in stock. So I was stuck ordering one no matter what. Interstates are cheaper than Odysseys and most chain auto parts stores have house brand AGMs now too.
Winches can draw a lot of current.
The stock battery size is 24F. A 34R will fit with a spacer (they sometimes come with them or you can buy one). A 27F will also fit. They were offered in 150 chassis as part of a cold weather package in some markets. You need a larger plastic tray. Some people just remove the 24F tray but if there's any battery acid there won't be a plastic tray for it to land in. Sealed batteries ought to not leak any acid.
You can find AGM batteries in all three sizes. The 27F is a bit heavier than the other two but can have more capacity.

I wish we could get the Japanese Panasonic batteries here in the US. When my original battery dies I would like to attempt to rebuild it. I have been slowly replacing all my wet lead acid batteries with the AGM, Duralast platinum's, but in the past year or so the Platinum line is going away from the AGM. The AGM are nice because they don't leak out and rust your rig.
Will the ArcLight triple stage booster work on all Gx460s? Is the fuse box layout the same as 5th gen 4Runners? What about 2022 GX460 specifically (my vehicle)?

Just a heads up, because of how much current they draw, whenever I use my winch, I ALWAYS am running my engine, even if for a quick pull.
