WARN on all of my quads. My father still has a nearly 45 year old WARN on an old Chevy pickup …IIRC.. it is a M8274 that he still uses all the time and works perfectly.

They use magnesium chloride in the mountain passes here in WA state during the winter. Not as bad as salt but still corrosive.

I just picked up a 2023 GX460 with 13k miles and I'm digging it so far. I'm glad to see people are enjoying their OTT Tunes because I had one on my 4runner and loved it so I was hoping I could expect the same with my GX. Cheers

Early days with my OTT tune, but I’d say it’s nothing earth-shattering. I also had a dual pulley supercharged Audi S4 previously, so I don’t have high performance goals with this.

when I bought my winch last year, the 90 day warranty for HF deterred me. I understand you can get extended warranty, but once that cost was added, it was the same cost as the Superwinch 10k winch with synthetic rope, which is what I ultimately choose.

HF definitely has a crappy warranty. I've found that most "big" things they offer are really very good for the price (my shop press, drill press, metal cutting bandsaw, tool cabinets, and welder cart all came from HF). Many of the small/cheap things (cordless tools, lower-tier hand tools) are junk as are some of the bigger and more complex things (their welders suck - had one brick on me), while the top tier hand tools (Icon) are excellent. So, I shop selectively there, and it's only for things where I don't want the extended warranty.

The Badlands 12,000 is $400 to $450 on sale, which makes it attractive. At $600 full price, it's definitely a bit less attractive. That Superwinch does look nice though, considering it's only 61 pounds.

Yea anyone who thinks the OTT is going to wake up a sleeping giant v8 monster is going to be very sad.

The transmission tuning within the OTT is what really matters. The improved throttle response is a nice bonus but having the car kick down 1 gear on a rolling hill without having to mash the throttle or slow down is what makes it worth it.

what do you mean by kick down one gear? do you mean shifting up or shifting down? i wished the gx was more aggressive in downshifting during descents. I frequently finding myself having to manually downshift on most of the hills in my area.

A lot is not great, but some is awesome . All of my cordless stuff is Milwaukee.....my welder is a Hobart.....but for bigger shop tools, you really can't beat HF.

I have the YotaWerx tune on the most aggressive version, and I believe the OTT tune is similar. Yes, the downshifting is far better. It is the weakest link in the regular driving of this vehicle. These tunes help with downshifting a lot. It is the main reason to do the tune. Throttle response would be the second. Other than those two things, my butt dyno didn't read a lot more.

I was talking about out downshifting on climbs. The stock tune would lug or gear hunt even on the rolling hills in central VA. The OTT is much better at letting you hold the throttle steady and downshift a gear or 2 to maintain speed going up a hill.
I haven't been out in the mountains with it yet to experiment with engine braking. My assumption is that its better than stock but likely still have to manually select if you want above 3000rpm. IMO no automatic does this well unless you have a sport mode.

This is the biggest reason I decided to get the tune. Northern Michigan speed limit is 75 and on mild hills, the transmission is completely at a loss. I knew it would only be worse pulling a 3-4k lb boat.

Totally, and the good stuff is random. I do swear by and recommend their impact sockets.

I did not notice much more downshifting on downhills with the OTT tune. But on steep downhills like the road I live on I manually downshift anyhow so it wouldn't apply there.

The 10 speed in my recent model 3/4 ton chevy diesel downshifts some when braking on descents. It does it more if you're in tow/haul mode or have the exhaust brake on.

I switched to regular when I got the OTT tune and I still think the fuel mileage is slightly better, at least for around town driving. For me that means lots of trips up and down the mountain. The one long freeway trip I did with the tune it seemed about the same, but mileage on that trip varies depending on wind so its hard to say from just one.

100% this. My tune vastly improved the quality of life things like throttle response and cruise control performance. My overall power wasn't noticeably increased. You'll need substantial exhaust work to give you everything this engine has. Highly recommend a tune for all 460 owners. I went with an aggressive 89 tune.

That's so weird because I want it to do less downshifting. If CC is on and I go down the tiniest of hills that normally wouldn't require braking or any sort of downshifting, the GX downshifts 1-2 gears, sometimes 3 gears, to maintain CC speed. On a gently rolling road it will downshift and then upshift 20 times in a couple of miles. It's maddening. I basically have trained myself to only use CC on flat ground because it's so annoying

Completely agree. It was ok in Iowa but its awful in Colorado abd Wyoming.

What I meant was as soon as you put in a sport mode usually drops you down and unless you're going fast you won't see 6th. I don't get fast enough in sport to get to S6. Maybe it's my tune? Lol
