Sunglass holder? So that is where it is at... Thanks I moved my glasses over from the Taco as soon as I read it on the first post. The Tacoma has 2 sunglass holders, the other I use for my 3X reading glasses. Guess they are going to have to live in the center console of the 460.

Congrats on the new GX!

The glasses holder is behind the convex "bus driver" mirror above the rear-view mirror. Just pull it down after you push the button to drop the mirror.

I'm just so nervous to hack away at a brand new vehicle's grille. I live with it during the factory warranty period and then maybe, by that time, will have built up the courage to get aggressive. I find a Satoshi grille to be a little to minimalist. There are some ugly aftermarket options out there. Saw one black 460 with a terrible replacement grille that had a "heritage" style LEXUS written across the front grille. It looked cheap.

The GX550 does have an appeal to me but mainly the Overland + trims and they are well beyond my affordability range...hell, the new 460 was right at the upper limit. I'll be holding on to my girl until forever.
Buy a used one to play with.

Had a little snow last night and went for a drive this morning. In large part to test out the tires the dealer put on brand new Michelin Defenders. ~28 years ago did some work for Michelin North America HQ in SC. They threw me a pair of LTX tires as a bonus. They were a pretty decent tire back then. Just the looks of these I couldn't help but think not so much.

They handled fine even with packed slippery snow. But it was all level and not going fast, pretty sure most of it was the vehicle. Have a steep paver brick driveway and when I pulled in was headed toward the ravine for a bit sliding sideways.

Was able to get stopped and straightened out but spent the day looking at new tires. And wheels, well because 17".

Going to go with TRD Pro 17" black wheels with the red circle hubs and black lug nuts. Toyota dealer in Lebanon Pa. has 25% off for Black Friday\Cyber Monday plus another discount on shipping. It was meant to be I will order them in the morning after I sleep on it.

And Falkin AT3W 265/70/17 115T SL. Weight wise with the TRD wheels looks like it should be close to a wash. And even half an inch clearance makes a difference sometimes off road. It sure did with my Polaris Ranger Northstar, I couldn't believe how much.

This afternoon it was even slipperier and same thing pulling in. This time I hit the center diff lock on sliding even though the brakes were on with no power to the wheels and it stopped dead. Hmm maybe the tires aren't that bad. Yes they are, and that is my story and I'm sticking to it.

PSA:

Actually inspect your bearings, take the break caliper and rotor off and give it a good inspection, so much can be hidden with the caliper on. These bearings seem to not get as sloppy as domestic ones, but my god, once you get them off they are clearly blown. Like a new truck with new bearings.

Also, mark and sweep your alignment sleeves, even if the bolts are in great shape, the Cam sleeve was completely rusted into the LCA. Nothing a hack saw and the 12 ton press couldn't handle but yeah, would have been a lot cheaper to just sweep your cams.

About those floor mats mentioned earlier...

Have weathertech in the Taco and they have been great. But several have said they aren't so great in the Lexus. Enough that it got me looking. The OEM mats leave a lot to be desired when you wear boots all year, especially this time of year.

Ran across one never heard of before but people seem to really like, 3D MAXpider Custom Fit KAGU Floor Mat. Carbon Fiber look with sound insulation sandwiched in them. I like!

The one for the back seat blows away the OEM mat as well. They make them in brown and tan besides black but they are out of stock everywhere. I can live with black for now.

anyone try the big thick rubber ones? We had some in our Fusion Sport and the looked good and were awesome. But I don’t see them much.

On our gx470 I threw all the floor mats in the garbage and never replaced them. The carpeting is good enough, right? Well, after three years it looked pretty bad. Then I needed floor mats. Just FYI.

I've had Weathertech mats in my GX for 3 years. The actual floor mats for the passenger footwells are great. The rear cargo mat is where people have issues: it does work to protect the folded down third row, but it also slides around a bit, can fold at the corners, and is bulky if you need to use the third row.

I too have the Weathertech mats for front and middle. Do not have the rear tray for the third row fold down's.
Have had them for over 5 years now and have been awesome!
The color is almost spot on with the brown/tan carpet.
I can still hook the factory Lexus carpet mats into the floor hoods on top of the Weathertechs so I have the comfort of the carpets but if I step in something dirty and nasty I can just pull the Lexus carpet up, toss it in the back and still have the Weathertech protection.
This is handy when we're up in Tahoe in the snow and mud. The Weathertech's hold all that muck in the tray without spilling onto the base factory installed carpet underneath.

Omg, I need those to ward off the shed-pocolypse with 2 Huskies and another on the way!

My GX will be coming with the OEM mats (not my choice) and buying real mats will be my 2nd purchase.

My first was a console safe that I got a good black Friday sale price on.
Are the OEM mats the carpet mats that attach to the floor hooks?
If so, if you get the WeatherTech, the WeatherTech will attach to the floor hooks and the hooks are tall enough to also attach the factory carpet pads on top.

I tried the Weather Tech (not sure which model) and they were unpleasantly hard and slick plastic. I got the MAXpider ones and I'm happy, they're a perfect mix of durable/waterproof and luxurious. They fit tightly to the floor and lock in with the locks so they don't get shoved out of place by passengers with busy feet.

There are so many varying opinions about the brands. Having never owned all-weather mats from any brand for any vehicle, I feel like a babe in the woods. Weathertech, Husky, Tux, - they all have a following. I just want mats with the highest sidewall and one that covers the dead pedal fully.
I had Huskys in a couple of Jeeps and loved them. They're softer than Weathertech and not as slippery as a result (certain models, I think it's Husky's highest end that's soft). I tried Weathertech in my Tacoma and did not like them. Too slick and stiff. Never tried Tux or the other brands mentioned here. Can't confirm dead pedal coverage either.

I have and love those floor mats as well.

Appreciate it. I've ridden in Weathertech-lined rides and the material does seem stiff. Anything is better than the OEM, which are so flimsy, I'd be afraid of spilling the contents before I cleared the footwell.
I agree. I have husky in my GX and oem in the wife’s. Needless to say I am moving to husky’s in hers as well.
