Anyone installed a 1" body lift on their GX?

I've seen the kits for the Prado/4th gen t4r, I just don't really see many (or any at all) modded GX owners running them along with a suspension kit. I've been considering a 1" body lift to go along with my 3" suspension setup, and I understand the negative cog effect it can have so lets not detour this thread.

So has anyone installed or considered one? Any problems with the radiator/transfer case etc...?

Cheers!

Nope! Never considered it as the running gear is too low anyway

crossmember, fuel tank, etc. Good approach and departure with bumpers. No real need. Axles will break with larger tires.

Also, with the tolerances of the radiator, etc the spacing and changed geometry I would be worried about the impact (and expense) of doing it right for the first time.

You might have realized..I hate body lifts :)

I purchased a 1" body lift for my 3rd gen 4runner form this guy. He seems to know his stuff about body lifts, I bet he could get you more info on body lifting a GX. I hate the look of big body lifts plus all of the problem Dan mentioned that come with them, but with a 1" lift you can't even tell there is a body lift on it and it helped to get a little big more clearance for my tires.

Keep in mind, most aftermarket bumpers will have to be modified to fit a body lifted truck.

And the sliders will hang an inch lower from the body, losing that stealth appearance.

But I did come across a GX running 35's with a 1" body lift, just can't seem to find it now.

Why is the GX any different than the 4th gen 4runner or 120 Prado? Both of those seem to run a 1" with no problems...
It's not and that's why you don't hear anyone running them reporting issues. I ran a 2" on a 3rd gen 4runner with 35's no problem and a 1" one my 4th gen 4runner before this truck. I have assisted two friends install their 1" on the 4runner body and they have had zero issues. I plan to run one on this truck as well soon. Not only will there be no gap with the bumpers but it will bolt directly up. There was one GX on Expedition Portal running a BL but he sold it a while back I believe. Some people are weird about the 1" or greater gap increase the body and frame but to each their own.

Was wondering the same thing myself. I'm doing a suspension lift with 6112 and 5160s, but have thought about a body lift for a little more clearance. I would like to put 33s on it.

33's should fit with the 6112/5160's.. That's what I'm running on my GX and I have zero rubbing.

Did you have to do a body mount chop? How much work did it take inside the fender to get the 33s to fit? I would like to stick a 33x10.5 in if it isn’t too much chopping.

Second question, how is the ride and how do you like the 6112/ 5150 setup?

I’m also on 33s (285/70R17 Nitto Ridge Grapplers) with 6112s upfront and ICON 56550 LT rear shocks with Dobinson C59-675V coils.

No BMC. Stock front bumper.

3.7* caster with TC UCAs and stock LCAs.

17x7.5 zero offset Foxtrot
Wheels

I removed the front sway bar last year and the remaining rubbing went away. I have zero rubbing.

Caster, wheel width, and wheel offset play a bigger role in fitting 33s than a lift

I’ve been fighting with wheel offset in my head trying to figure what will keep wheels in the best place. If zero offset works for you, I’ll probably go that route. I had also been battling back and forth in my head over UCAs, so you answered that question for me as well.

Thank you very much. If there is anything else you can think of that I might be overlooking, please feel free to let me know!!!

No body mount chop. I'm on Method 17 x 8..5, 0 offset and Falken Wildpeak AT3W 285/70. Very little work with a heat gun on the liners was required. I really like the 6112/5160's. They firmed up the ride a bit, which is what I was looking to do. In fact I just put the same setup on my daughters 4th gen v8 4runner.
