Going to buy wheel / tire package for GX470. Looking for recommendations on new wheel size for adding 285/70 17 tires. Wheels I am looking at are 17x8 with a +10mm offset

Adding Ironman suspension and LR upper control arms.

What are thoughts on wheel width and offset for fitting the 285's with a lift?

thx

negative offset it better. positive is moving the tire closer to the truck, you will likely be all over your upper control arms, body mount, and rub on your frame at full lock. I run a -10 offset with 4.5" backspacing, but I had to trim my fenders. Suspect you could do the same offset with less BS and be okay on 285s. You can also check out the spreadsheet on GXOR (facebook) from everyone that has added wheels and tires.

I have the 2014 trail edition 4Runner rims on my GX with 285/70/17 Toyo AT2s and an Old Man Emu lift. I think the offset is 15mm and the rims 17x7.5. With stock upper control arms the tires don't rub on the body mount, but I have rubbing on the inner fender lining behind the front bumper. I cut most of it out, but am thinking about relocating the washer fluid reservoir in order to cut higher and eliminate the remaining rubbing.

Just for future reference, I figured out my 285s weren't rubbing on the washer reservoir. Instead, the rubbing was on the front skid plate-- mine's pretty bashed up, and seems to have bowed out in a way that was causing problems. Once I dropped the skid, no more rubbing. I'm replacing it with an RCI skid. There's still a little rubbing on the inside frame, where the tires have polished the metal, but it doesn't make any noise, and I'm not going to worry about it.

But... I also dropped the spare tire, and saw that the spare had been rubbing on the pan hard bar. So, at least for Toyo ATs, the 285 won't fit underneath.
