Wow, what a price hike for an item that hasn't even been available here for a year yet. I understand economics but this Overland crap is getting ridiculous. $3500 for a rear bumper, $2200 for an aux fuel tank and then another $1000-2000 for install. Highway robbery lol.

Awesome. Thanks for the responses! I figured that it would be flipping a switch to transfer fuel to the main tank, but wanted to check and see.

Agreed 100%. For a bit over a grand I was debating it. Could get use out of it, didn’t really have a legit justification for it though. At today’s price, they definitely made that decision very cut and dry for me.

Kaymar/Long Ranger are very proud of there import$. The Kaymar rear bumper is nice but as other bumpers become available and made stateside I see a dismal future for that rear bumper.

The fuel tank is unique to the GX and don't see anyone else federalising a fuel tank for such a low volume (in the US) vehicle. Long Ranger had the design for the rest of the world so a couple hoops in the US to jump through to federalise it.

It was my experience with my Taco here in the US and Canada that 17 gallons (fuel tank) and two jerry cans was plenty of fuel and reality in the US a single jerry can is plenty of reserve. My Taco did get fairly decent highway MPG and on the trail would drop to 15 mpg as long as I wasn't in deep snow or sand.

With all this being said if I was planning to drive to Tuktoyaktuk then perhaps the Long Ranger would make sense. My Business partner drove his 2017 Taco pulling a trailer all over Baja on the stock tank and 2 jerry cans no fuel concerns. 95% percent of the folks on most 4x4 forums/social media 4x4 groups will never travel to either location.

Save your $$$ for CONUS travel and if you get to the level of real long remote travel then spend the money.

Upwards of $3,500 for an aux fuel tank, wow, that's a lot of fill ups to justify that! For now I'll settle for the Scepter 5 gal jerry cans for $41.00 on Amazon!
For that price it should come with a pre-paid gas credit card for your favorite gas station!

Is there a reason this can’t be installed by the owner? Yes, that is a huge some of money, but after having the 32gallon Safari tank from Genright on my LJ, I’m now spoiled by having tons of fuel between the frame rails. I just wish they kept the 33g version instead of the 24g. I don’t mind hitting from time to time if it means I get an extra 9gallons.

Plus the weight penalty. When not in use, 90% of the time my Jerry cans, holder and left swing arm will be removed. That’s approximately 70 lbs.

It is by far my wife's favorite modification to her LC 200, and better use of money in my opinion than many other aftermarket modifications.

It is not a cheap option (like many other quality aftermarket components such as suspension, roof racks, bumpers, drawers, lights, etc.), and there are less expensive ways to increase range. But this solution is extremely well engineered and executed to be an integrated part of your rig. There is a lot more that goes into the design and construction than people appreciate; almost certainly more than most aftermarket offroad bumpers. Good luck trying to find (or have custom made) an auxiliary tank nearly as well-designed anywhere else in the country for the GX for twice the price.

The best part about this product is how it completely eliminates range anxiety, without you even having to think about it. When your primary tank gets low, you push a button to transfer over fuel from the auxiliary tank while driving. Then you fill up the auxiliary and top off the main at your next fill-up (or, if you are my wife, you just let both get down to 1/4 tank before filling up). Regardless, unless you are a compete idiot you always have emergency reserves. Preferably, you always have at least 300 miles of range (i.e., at least one full tank of gas) if you need it. And unlike jerry cans, the tanks are kept cycling so your gas doesn't go bad, and you don't have to worry about it being stolen off the back of your rig any time it is left alone in a bad neighborhood or remote location.

It's not for everyone, but after having it in our LC 200 I am a big fan. And I look forward to getting one for my GX in the near future.
