My feeling is many who are new into the culture are ‘young’ and a bit clueless to the fact these really are just simple tractors.

Many moons ago had similar problem. Gas tank was sealed with plastic goo which dissolved and wound up in the bottom of float bowl. When going up hills goo moved against main jets, blocking fuel flow.
 
I actually own two vehicles which have industrial engines for their driveline. The first of course being the 60. The second is a Saab 96 which uses a 1700 cc Ford V4 engine originally intended to be a low hp/high torque equipment engine. Saab’s Motorsport department tunes it up to around 180hp by the end of its rally career. Much more power than that and crankshafts started to break as did transmissions.
 
I like how the speedometer has 55 mph highlighted in orange....
