That section of trail 16 has claimed its fair share of parts from this group. Danny tagged his drive shaft there, and I know I banged up my rear lower control arm bracket there.
It's all related. Your bent rod is likely causing the clicking by putting odd stress on the birf. I wouldn't worry about the birf just yet.
Get your relay fixed first. You can just get it bent back into shape at a shop. We did Danny's tie rod one year at GSMTR at the cabin with Luis' Ford running over the rod. Replacements are around $300 I think.
Once you get the rod sorted out, see if the clicking stops. I bet it does.
Even if it doesn't, you should plan on a birf swap. It's quite possible the previous owner didn't pack the birfs with grease before stuffing them back in there... so do the axle job, and do it right. Swapping them will give you another 50-100k miles out of them. But the best way to know for sure it to take them apart and visually inspect all of the parts in the axle for wear. Then you'll know if you have a real problem or just a messy one.
Or you could try the Commando Method and get it done REAL fast.
