heather has a bunch of pics and a few videos on her phone I'll try to get up tomorrow and justin's got a bunch on his camera we will post soon too.

Thanks for the videos, Emmy. That is your name right, Emmy? All this time I've been calling you Danny. LOL.

Carnage report from yesterday's trail ride:

And we're done! We all escaped unharmed!

But it did rain a good bit last night. Aught to make things really interesting today...

Go down Trail 12 they said. It's not that bad, they said.

Justin Danny and I started the trail at 3pm I think. Luis and Gregg went out to look for us around 10:30. We all got back by 2:30am.

The day stared off pretty well. Sorry about the quality, will do better later. Here Justin having fun. Towards the beginning of the trail.

Later on things started getting a little more serious. Time was slipping, and the trail was continuing to get harder. Carnage started a little before this video was shot. Justin's door and a tree found each other. Danny lost a taillight at the same obstacle. I lost my fender flare on this same hill:

If you look close you can see Justin's flare pop too. We all grew tired of it ... But the trail wasn't done with us yet.

A little further along and the weather turned south. Dinner was shot. And we still hadn't dealt with one big hill climb. This is where things got seriously bad for us. All of the trails were slime. We winched my truck up the trail. Then had to tie off to respool because the trail was so slimy my truck would just slide right back down. Then winch some more.

Steve, you would have loved it. Your rig would have been just about perfect for this trail...

We started winching at 7:30 I think. We finally got my truck up by 11:30. Justin and Danny found another route and got to the top.

But that wasn't even the end. We still had an hour and half of trail left - all in about a quarter mile of distance. And then another hour on an easier trail, and a another hour getting back to camp.

Pretty miserable night for everyone. Trucks got a little abused but they all (eventually) made it. Maybe minus a flare here and there...

here are a few pics I took over the last couple days. here's a few of those cool purple trees lining a cliff
20130517_121453_zps0c216837.jpg

and a really cool huge boulder that had fallen off and left a place for the trail to pass under

carter taking his second turn falling into the stream from the same rock. the first time his old phone he was taking video with took a big drink.

a few stream crossings while we were still having fun.

and then the fun stopped at this tree. this was a steep climb/turn that made it very clear we were in for it. about here some caged buggies came by and let us know this was a black Diamond ATV trail.

he was wedged in and had to be pulled sideways to re align for a different line. that spot was the first of many to come. one after another for hours. the rain made it very bad and the dark didn't help at all.
this is carter at the top of the same climb/turn that got justin's door. he also had to be pulled sideways to get past.

this is the last picture I took. it was dark wet rocky/bouldery slick and slimy the whole way out. looking back I wish we had some pictures of the wheeling we did after this because it was a testament to why we drive Landcruisers. at the time we were all just in emergency make it home mode. midnight in the rain on a trail you have no business being on with no phone service, in a place with 300 miles of trails with the wife and 5 kids between justin and I didn't leave much room for photography. this was about 9pm.we still had a long way out and the obstacles kept getting bigger/more technical.

Looks like ya'll had a blast ! Hate missing out on this one . Glad to see everyone is ok and be safe on the trip back home . Give me a call if you need any help .

I can't believe we didnt call you while we were up here, even to rub it in.

I WOULD have called you at midnight from the hillside I was strapped to if my phone actually worked out there. "Rocky, yeah, can you come pull me up?"

Next year is the same place. Week of may 12th if I remember correctly.

It appears it was a great adventure! Thanks for posting the pics and videos.

I look forward to next year.

Does anyone remember any rules on camping off the trails? The north trails are so far from the official camp it would be cool to spend the night at the flats and then work our way back down the next morning. There are enough trails you could spend two nights out.

I read on the FJC forum the group that missed the Saturday night raffle also was out till 2:30AM. At least they were not in rain like Luis and I.

I just found my winch receipt and I did pay $39 for the three year extended warranty, all I have to do is pull it off the bumper and return it. I normally pass on those but have seen so many non-functioning winches....

Im not sure about camping but I like the idea. That is the bad thing about windrock with everything being so spread apart. But I know there were some prime spots we passed in the NE section around 55 I think.

Finally got a few minutes to get the videos off my other phone.

Thanks you YouTube for taking the shake out of the video!

Here's some from Friday mid-AM, on trail G60 (tame):

Then we moved onto Trail 12 [ATV trail, difficult]. You can see how narrow it was - not exactly designed for 80's! Pin striping guaranteed. Unless you rhino-lined your truck!

More of trail 12...

This was when Justin was still in a good mood about the ride... (higher quality video of the same one I uploaded before)

More of trail 12... note all the butterflies around!

More of trail 12. This was after I slipped and fell in the stream, dunking my phone. Whoops.

Danny thought I was going to fall in the stream again... well, I wasn't so sure myself so I gave him my phone to hang onto...

If he'd only started filming just a few seconds before, he would have caught the 2nd spill!

More of trail 12. The phone started acting a little wonky after the dunk, so the video cut out at the end.

More of trail 12. Soooo tame compared to what was to come later in the day....

More of trail 12...

And even more...

More trail 12...

NOTE: More to come.... I'll post more tomorrow after they get done processing...

Just for reference... I found this video on You Tube the other day. This was the last part of Trail 12. I'm not sure when this group was going thru, but they did have the advantages - daylight and dry conditions!

We hit this part around midnight I think. This wasn't exactly fun for any of us. I have no idea how Justin made it thru, but he did have a 2" tire size advantage over Danny and I. I watched Danny try a few times, then finally just back down a bit and hit it and hope for the best.

I think Danny missed that tree by about 1/2".

I did the same thing - and I have no idea how close I was to the tree, but it had to have been close as well...

Oh yeah - one more thing.

This is Trail 22, that we each did the first day. None of us had trouble with this spot. Granted, it wasn't this wet... but this is why we don't like the 100's... but when I say we didn't have trouble, it was pretty much a completely uneventful hill. Felt a little funny sliding over on the first part, but other than that - meh!

It would have never survived trail 12!!
