Roger, how is it getting back and forth to the trails? Did you guys go on the main road or take the back road for non-street legal vehicles?

It is about 3 miles to the trail either way. If you are close to street legal it is faster to take the road
My truck is 100% street legal right now, but there is a strong possibility that will change by the time we go. Not a big deal either way. I was just curious.

We usually run a black-double black route. Starting on trail 15 from pavement - little mule past rattle rock - little school bus (37 I think). Then from there we head over and run the stair steps (most of the time we skip them because they are getting really rutted out and sketchy) then over to trail 3. The next day we run trail 39 (cadilac hill), I like to start this trail first thing because it can take 4 hrs to run, or all day to run. Then from there we pick a milder trail like 16 or 12 depending on time.
Let me know if anyone is interested in joining, we have a group of 2 newer model tacoma's, a 4th gen runner, and a few FJ cruisers.

Corporate boys rolled in today to announce that all our jobs are moving to Ft Worth. Considering how close I am to full retirement ... they probably have me painted into a corner and I will be moving. We still have a lot to sort out, but if I move it probably won't be the move that they envision. Namely, we would keep our home in GA so Melissa can finish HS and college here, plus I am not keen on throwing away hard earned coin in this housing market. Then I would live out of a suitcase in an apartment for a few years and commute back as best I can. Since I must be in Ft Worth by March, I have a lot of details to sort including GSMTR. I did not miss GSMTR'08 due to health; the corporate boys will be facing long odds to keep me away from GSMTR'13.

Sorry to hear you are being forced to move There are some good guys in Lone Star LC they might be able to help you on the other end
Man that sucks. Gotta keep your priorities though. Make sure your daughter can get school finished up and all. You should go ahead and put in to have off those dates for GSMTR if you haven't already. You will be closer to Superlift in Arkansas which I hear is a good park.
Forget Superlift; From Ft Worth you'll be closer to K2 and Clayton!
Roger, Thanks. I won't have a Cruiser with me. Since I will most likely be in an apartment with no covering or security, it does not make sense to bring my 70 to be hailed on or stolen. I will have to be satisfied with close but no cigar.
Sam, G'smiter is a yes unless the bride or budget requires otherwise. But without a truck, Texas trails will be off the wish list, including Arkansas. Thanks

That is a good showing of 75; shows most of the hard spots. Although it doesn't do justice to the difficulty of those entrance "fins" nor to the "don't make a mistake here" section.
Looks like a lot of it is already getting ground down from trucks dragging past though. And what's up with the forest fire? Seems awfully contained for it to have been accidental.
We had a few super dry weeks and a couple fires broke out in different places. That one starts down in the south side of the valley and pretty much stops are the ridgeline. I suspect the wind was blowing south and stopped it from cresting over.
I have been hiking or riding mtbs on Walden Ridge since the 90's and I love trail 75, however I wish some how they could have limited the eventual widening of the trail. Some of those sections are just too difficult and as a result the trail widens as people go around stuff or at least get pushed wide.

Ted, unless we have a 40 with us when we run it, I think Henry's opinion of it will soon be yours too; I think you're gonna be the tallest, narrowest, and shortest wheelbase. So that tells me that you're gonna have the "most fun".now I understand why Henry's vagina is still screaming about that trail.
