not enough interest based on this thread so far, looks like people can order them directly from china for about $1500 which is what I plan to do eventually.
Just reading this thread now. I'm interested but sounds like the group buy is over. If you do order directly please let me know which site you go through as I may do the same. Thank you!

If we could get 10 guys to confirm I would still consider doing this but it seems like it is not going to happen. I am confident that I have found a good quality supplier that another mudder has used so that I don't think will be an issue. I may not be able to get the pricing down to $1300 though for it to be worth it and if there are this few people interested at $1300 then it may not be worth it when the pricing ends up being $1500 a piece.
Anyhow, at this point I will say the pricing is going to be anywhere from $1200 - $1600 and we will see how many people are still interested. I would still be willing to bring in 10 of these and pick them up, but for my work I would want a free unit for myself. Frankly I am surprised that more people are not interested, especially with exact same units from other vendors going for $2500 a unit. I am guessing people like the instant gratification and name brands.

I am asking my supplier for minimum quantity order pricing for the next step down in the pricing level. I am hoping they will do 6 tents instead of 10. That would mean we would only need 5 paid people. I will also ask for full payment ahead of time so I can collect the money and pay the invoice directly. I believe delivery would be about 6 weeks.

I will get back to everyone with specific and concrete details on pricing and we will go from there. I will ask for payment in full from each person that says they are in and if we do not get enough mudders for the group buy I will refund all the $. I think this should be done via paypal so you as the buyers are protected financially. Buyer will have to pay all paypal fees on top of cost of tent.

OK, so I looked at the pricing for 10 tents with the vendor I have chosen. With everything rolled up the costing is going to be $1600 per tent. They will all be white with dark grey material.
We will have to get 9 committed buyers. Once we have that payments can be made. Delivery is 4-6 weeks. I will add this to the beggining of this thread along with a list of names. Please PM me and tell me if you want me to add you to the list.

Looks like we have 4 or 5 guys willing to commit right now. I will wait to see if more folks are interested to see if we can get to the 9 people needed to make this happen. I am assuming a few people will naturally drop off so we need to see probably 10 to 12 people seriously interested to make this happen.

OK, so some good news. I was able to negotiate a lower # at the same price point. The costing is the same but we only need 5 buyers to complete this group buy. I will be PM'ing everyone whom has shown interest. In order to get this done I will need to have payment ahead of time from 5 buyers. I will include my phone number when I PM you as I want everyone to be as comfortable as possible with this. If you are in town and local in SD please feel free to come by and meet me as well. I would really like to see this happen and IMO this is a win win for everyone involved as you are getting a quality tent at a drastically reduced price. Please PM with any questions. Once I get confirmation back from people I will make a list and once we have 5 people I will ask for payment so I can pay the invoice upon ordering.

fyi, some more info, these are the largest hard shell RTT's available. All fiberglass, not ABS. I have been in contact with another mudder that ordered from this same vendor with good results.

A note on alibaba. They have fairly good safeguards in place. When using Alibaba we are covered completely for non delivery, damaged goods etc. The whole shipment is covered from the time it leaves the sellers hands until 15 days after I receive the tents in hand. I will personally open all tents and verify quality and no damage to the goods.

Clarification: I rolled up the numbers with gas and uhaul rental and the new pricing is $1700. That is FIRM now as I have figured out all costs and have gotten a firm quote from the vendor.

Thought I would chime in to vouch for the quality of the Unistrength tents from Alibaba. I recently went through the process of ordering one and while it was quite a bit of leg work I found it to be worth it.
I have used mine on two occasions so far. Once camping at the lake one weekend and the other at a rest stop on a long road trip. It has already proven itself to be solid and dry. Me and my girlfriend got caught in a freak storm in the middle of the night and it held up great. The hard shell tents are really able to withstand high winds and this one is no exception. There is no rain fly to whip around and make noise and the zippers are sealed so no water leaks in.
I am no small human and the mattress has proven to be very comfortable for me even being a side sleeper. One you get it installed it is very solid and pops up in literally 30 seconds. Packing it away is very easy as well and the more you do it the easier it gets.
