received shipment 10/31/2005.

GOT MINE TODAY, 10/31/2005. Merry Halloween! "Thanks Steve and Alex, for EVERYTHING!!!" now i just have to fix my crunch'd up 1/4 panel. -other sean

Got mine yesterday- thanks Weasel & many thanks Steve-O! Well-packed & arrived intact. Need refinishing, but complete & work.

My head auto glass guy is going to pull one of my fixed windows & try the slider in its place to see how it fits. FSM shows a gasket, but don't see how that would work with these particular windows. They have remnants of butyl or "tar" tape (thanks for that nickname, Nuke!), which we may use since it seals & holds quite well & would allow them to be removed (as opposed to urethane).

THANKS STEVE-O & POLARWEASEL (aka PolarMonkey)!! The windows arrived yesterday. Well packed and unbroken. As Tinker said, they need some refinishing!!

Steve-o: Just wondering...I pulled this off the front page "They include new felt lining for the window tracks."

Was that true? Cause I no got 'em... :)

If not, it's cool.

BTW: I got my very new looking right-hand, NON-USA air cleaner as well from Man-A-Fre!! Very snazzy.

Carry on.
Matt

P.S. Anyone know a good place in DFW for installing these things? If I was going to CO anytime soon I'd have Tinker do it, but alas, I am not.

Glad to hear they are arriving ok, I would probably quit if any of these get broken in shipping! Sorry about the felt, they were supposed to send it with the windows, but they didnt. I guess we were more upset about getting half of them broken, not the missing felt. It was pretty generic anyways, not Toyota or anything. I believe the technical term for it was "flocking?" They always forget the flocking flocking!!

I got mine yesterday and they are fine except obviously from a different truck. The catches are of a completely different style from each other. See pics. Call me anal but I would like to have them the same. Anyone with the same situation want to swap?

I'll check mine tonight. For some reason I think mine may be different as well.

Steve: No problem 'bout the flocking.

Thanks,
Matt

The shipping carnage has me thinking of another potential problem. What if one of us breaks a piece of glass in our sliders in the future? Are we SOL on getting a replacement? It would be a pain to drive around for months waiting on something to arrive from overseas.

Are the glass pieces we have interchangable with each other? My frames are considerably different from one another. I will also look closer at the way the latches attach to the glass to see if Steve can dig up some from the broken windows to match one or the other, if they come off easily.

damn...that is kinda anal. under the circumstances (and others unbeknown to most) youre even lucky you gotta straight set...much less a set at all. especially for $150. i would be greatly apprecited. funk the latches, we should worry about ever having to replace if broken. ie: theft, hail storm, etc... i buhlee we would be funkd.

ps Dunbar, youre frames are different too, not just latches?

still are bada**!! i cleaned mine up, and they look brand new. i took that butyl s*** on der, and used 'it' to take off other. once i did that, i soaked my gaskets (that werent attached) in some gasket solvent for awhile. cleaned up the window frames, and windows are perfect. tinker told me you could take those 2 silver center screwes out in the center/bottom frame and slide the center piece out. spread the frames a little to ge the glass out. obvioulsy be VERY careful. but once you ge the glass out, you could get the frames sandblasted/powder'd. timker will figure out the way to get these installed. he/his people have much experience.

I don't really think that's being too anal at all. It's a fair expectation, i.e. to get two matching windows. I don't think Dunbar is saying he doesn't appreciate the work Steve-o did for us (and neither am I), it's just he was expecting something different (e.g. a matched set). We couldn't possibly foresee that Man-a-fre would get such a bad shipment from their supplier. It happens. Steve-o did all he could and them some to make sure we got these at all.

Dunbar---It's all good...I think I got your other window right here: :D

I'll 100% check this saturday. But I'm pretty sure mine are different (i.e. one skinny and one fat latch). If so we'll trade out.
Cheers,
Matt

Good man Matt!

You are right up the road in Dallas so it should be a piece of cake doing the swap. I hope you are prepared to drink an abundance of excellent beer though.

I have more pics of mine and we can check them out. Let me know.

And, I am quite happy with Steve-O for doing this and am bummed about how it turned out for most.

On having to replace the glass sometime: just keep your old fixed glass. According to Murphy, you'll then roll your rig 5X & the rear glass will be the only thing intact.

Other Sean -
Don't worry about breaking the glass taking them apart unless you lever against the edge with something metal (tempered glass is 5X as strong as annealed along the face, but very tender along the edge, hence the fuzzy stuff. You can even bend it a little more than it is & it'll spring back!). After removing the division bar (mark it so you know where it goes on replacement) move both panes to the middle of the frame, spread the frame. & pull them out. What are you using for gasket solvent?

bitch bitch, moan moan

My windows arrived in excellent shape the other day, same day as Hullendersauce's showed up. They're nice. They're mismatched, and I like 'em that way. I can't imagine whining about these after everything that's happened. Unbelievable.

Hint: "Anybody want to trade latches?" sounds a whole lot better than "Waah waah waah, my windows are unmatched and I think I might die..." :flipoff2:

Thank you, Steve!

Steve... For those of us who were not in the "lucky 13"... when do we see out funds returned? Have I missed something?

I would like to give you a friendly "Piss-off"!! :)

Dunbar and I shall trade windows and be happy about it. So, nah.

Speaking of which...I double checked my windows and they are indeed different. So Dunbar, when & how would you like to make the exhange? I'm pretty sure I should be at the LSLC meeting this month if you ever make it there.

Again, thanks Steve and I would thank Polarmonkeyweaselboy, but I currently don't like him. :flipoff2:

(Again, with the friendly jabs...please take them as such)

Cheers,
Matt
