Funny you should ask... Steve told me yesterday that the windows are in the country, but in customs for an indeterminate period of time. Nothing wrong or unexpected, it's just that customs is slow for containers. He said he'd update the thread when he had them at the shop.

OK! Good and bad news for everyone today! The windows are here!!!!!! They are all stacked up and I havent had a chance to go through them yet, but the ones on top look pretty good!

The bad news is, there was some bits of broken glass in the container, as well as falling off the palet. :o Today I will be taking everything apart to see what we have and then I will re-post.

This is what I will be doing about the windows. I am going to get all the sets ready that I have, and take pictures of them. Then I am going to go down the line of who purchased first, and send them a picture of their set.

I will not be choosing best windows first, and I will not be giving the best sets to anyone in particular. After you get the picture of the window, you can decide if you want it, or if you would like a refund. I know I told everyone in the begining that all sales are final, but I am giving everyone the option to cancel if they are not 100% satisfied with the quality. No hard feelings at all.

I had no idea we would get this many orders for them, and I had no idea it would take this long for them to come in. So for that, I am very sorry.

I am a little off today, and will be gone for some of the day taking my mother to the hospital, everything is fine, and will be ok, I should be back in later today.

If you try to reach me and I am gone, I will get back to you as soon as possible. Thanks everyone for making this buy happen, I hope the windows turn out great!

Steve-
If you have a set left over after serving everyone originally interested please let me know and I'll [EDIT - probably] take it. Best wishes for your mother.

Ok, the count is in. Out of the 25 sets that arrived in, 13 pairs are sellable. They are in decent shape which is nice, but not everyone on the buy is going to get a set of windows. Recieving half of the windows broken is a real kick in the :censor:. I am really sorry that this has happened, and it is out of my hands of course, but I still feel responsible.

So, if there is anyone that is no longer interested in the windows and would like a refund, please call me. If anyone can afford to not get a set of windows, please call me to get a refund. Thanks for understanding, I need to figure out how I am going to work this, so bear with me for a day or so.

DOH'

Sorry hear of the carnage.
Thanks for dealing with this buy. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.

Bummer to hear that over half the windows shipped are unsellable. I take it having new glass cut to replace the broken parts isn't exactly feasable? I still definately want my set, but if worse comes to worse, I can wait a while for it. I just hope they come in before I deploy next :D

Thanks for all the hard work Steve. I'm sure I'm not the only one here who appreciates it.

Yeah it sucks, my boss is pretty upset also. If they vendor doesnt re-imburse us for the windows then this is definately a bad deal. I'm afraid there wont be a next time Mr. Spook, after these are out of my wherehouse, I never want to hear about rear sliding 60 windows again. Replacing the glass would be a huge waste of time and money, probably cost more than they are worth. But if anyone wants a frame let me know. :D

How do you determine who gets good ones? You have 13 pairs, does that mean the first 13 people on the list get good ones?

I'm number 12 on the list on first page.

I think it ought to be a lottery system. Draw names out of a hat, and the first 13 get good windows?

That sucks.

Can't cut fixed glass into slider pieces - they're tempered & will only shatter. Also, making new pieces is virtually impossible without original molds & patterns.

So we're screwed! Except now the're probably 13 sets of good frames.

I don't really know what I'm talking about...but could a clear plastic (eg polycarbonate, plexi or similar) be used instead of the tempered glass? It's not anywhere near to the passengers. Easier to cut, pretty strong.

Yo Steve!

yeah, sorry to hear about the sliders. that really sucks. i was stoked to hear/see everyones installation. bummer!!
well, that said, i would still very much appreciate a set. i am really looking forward to getting them to Tinkers, along with Weasel, and gettem installed before Winter. lemme know how/when you plan on distributing.
also, if i happen to get a good set, i would be willing to throw in another $50 on my set to help recover "some" of your cost on the broken/unsellable ones. just my 2c. -hullendersauce

Yes, you could use acrylic (Plexiglas, Perspex) or polycarbonate (Lexan), but they might not slide as well because they would be trying to "straighten" all the time. I prefer X10 Lexan (scratch and yellowing resistant), & virtually unbreakable. Can't apply window tint to it, but it comes in different tints. More expensive than glass, however.

Anyone in front range Colorado wants to try, I'll help! With any luck (barring "the lottery" on the good sets), I'll have patterns & can try making Lexan panels since I'm going to dis-assemble mine to make grilles to keep my dogs' heads in the truck & get them & the frames powdercoated (with the weasel, I guess).

Ok, I'm going to start taking pictures and e-mailing people today. I thought about that lottery system, I dont think it would really work to be honest. I'm not choosing first bought, gets the best windows. I'm just grabbing a pair, putting a name on them and shipping them out.

Just so everyone is clear, I am going by the first list of names on page one of this thread. After I spoke with Alex (polarmonkey) we decided that his list was much more accurate than my list that I posted earlier, which I have deleted. I know all of the names arent listed on his, but dont worry, I have all of you down here, and have been keeping track of whos on top of the "hopfully gets a set of windows" list. I hope everyone is happy with this so far, I'm trying my best to make this work out fairly, and well, just make it work out.
