ORDERING NEXT WEEK: Group Buy - 80 Series OEM (Factory) Snorkel

Hi Guys,
If I can get enough interest, I'm considering placing another order for a couple of TOYOTA FACTORY snorkels(I can probably only get a limited number based on my last order because one of the parts was backordered by a couple of weeks) and just wanted to put it out there to see if anyone wants to put their name down for one.
I'm 99.999% all pieces are here for the install including ducts, brackets, bolts/washers, rivets etc, etc and the template which was supplied to me by MOT, an excellent boardie!

All parts are for the 80 series vehicles...if your pre-order with me you can choose the 70(cone) or 80(bulb) series topper. The 80 topper is slightly more $. The US models will need a small mod in terms of relocating the antenna for install. Very straight forward I'm told.
Anyhow, after everything was said and done, Ill be looking for approx $425CAN for the set up plus shipping to you which is very economical through Fedex ground (Approx $35 for 4-5 business days to most of North America)

I'll be looking for a $100 deposit on the parts, I'll take care of all of the coordination, putting the balance of the money up for the parts, shipping, freight, customs, sorting the parts into kits, repacking everything for shipment and the leg work to ship to you.

Please email any questions to whosthecoolguy@hotmail.com[/EMAIL"]whosthecoolguy@hotmail.com"]whosthecoolguy@hotmail.com[/EMAIL]
I find it tough to maintain the PM inbox sometimes.
Thanks for the look!
Jeff

I believe anybody can get the OEM Snorkel Set for 80 from their favorite OEM parts vendor here on mud for about 300. Correct me if i am wrong.

You are wrong.

I got a snorkel from Jeff above, and it was great to deal with him. Every single little part was there and communication was great.
Cheers,

I've read a lot of posts on them and I believe you can get a part or two from the kit but the majority of the parts are not avaialble through the vendors.

Kinda sorta.....

I have been able to procure 80 series snorkel parts before as well as 7x series snorkels.

The 80 series supply seems to have dried up a bit for us. I haven't been able to get the parts for awhile now. I'd say the OP is probably your best bet for an 80 series specific snorkel.

7x series snorkels seem to be significantly easier to procure. I have 2 on the shelf here and plan to install one on my new body during the winter. A 7x series snorkel should work on an 80 series fender.

I saw that, I thought that was for the Tacoma?

Anyhow, I have mine and would only be doing it for those who wanted one.
I've had some emails trickle through from my last orders wondering if I have left overs and I don't.

Shipping only works if there are a group of them so for me to order more for the guys who currently want one I need more orders.

Anyhow, let me if anyone else is interested.

I think there will still be interest. Some folks will want the OEM version. I'm just not one of them and I had no plans to get one but the price was right so I said screw it. GLWS Jeff.

Do they work on 3fe ?
Thx

Jeff, can you give little more detail on the antenna Mod??

Thanks
Stu

Put me down for one. I will also send an email. I would like the 70 series topper.

YES. I did the TLCA article a few years back using my old 3FE'd 1991 FJ80. If memory serves, the only difference between the 1FZ-FE and 3FE version is the tube that starts at the OEM air filter housing that goes behind the fender.

I think the OEM snorkel looks better than the aftermarket stuff even the radar dome on the 80 series one. But I am a weirdo I guess. Oddly I do not want a snorkel on my 1996 FZJ80.

Best of luck with this group buy. I am sure all buyers will enjoy this product. Search up the fender template here on MUD. I didn't know it existed and had to wing it when I did mine. I started with the nown 1st mounting point at the OEM air filter housing and worked back. This gave me a base to work from to cut the opening in the fender. It took a bit of tape, cardboard and patience but I got it right without the template. I found the template about a week after I did mine...figures...

Or you contact Mot for the template too.

The 1HD-FT/E and the 1FZ have the same intake routing in the front fender. The 1HZ is different.

Once I get my new body on I am going to fit up the 7x series snorkel which has a much longer fender throw than the ones here. Similar to the Safari setup on the fender. Its a 2 piece unit as compared to the one piece one here.

And the 7x series snorkel says "Land Cruiser" on it. :)

Personal preference for the Safari look.
The cone shaped top like on the 70 series makes me think the truck has a chimney with a wood burning stove and a steam engine.

Aw...come on Rick....you're in Canuckistan...the 3rd World nature of the OEM snorkel is right up your alley.

;)

Onur, the smoke gets so thick here from wood burning stoves that the truck would look like a moving house. All I would need is the "woody" look to fit right in.

We put one of these snorkels on a hzj80 a few weeks ago and it was s direct fit and bolt on.

Thanks guys.

For clarification, I provide a copy of the template.

I've brought in prbably 35+ of these things now and everything has been consistant.
The guys I order from have gotten the order 100% correct everytime.
It takes a bit of time to get them in but I think the wait is worth it.

As for the antenna, and someone who has done the mod (I have a RHD 80) can maybe speak better to it, but you have to either relocate your factory antenna by a couple of inches OR get a splitter (Harbour Freight?) and have your antenna internally. Probably 80% of the 30+ snorkels I've shipped out have been for North American models so there is no doubt a way to do it and I hear it's easy when you have all the tools out for install anyway.
