Similar seat o'the pants improvements: Noticeably more torque between 1,500-3,000 rpm...and very noticeable between 1,800-2,800rpm. Smoother, more linear power transmission.

Has an overall similar effect of taking 500+lbs off the rig :D

Headers are in. I notice the engine free revs a little smoother. Second gear start from a stand still has a little more pull and at highway speeds the 7000lb pig that is my truck can get out of its way again.

plus they look purty.

I'm proud to announce my headers are in as well. Similar results as others have mentioned. Much smoother and a bit better throttle response. I'll have to see if it's noticeably cooler too after a longer drive because OEM was HOT.

My good mechanic friend did the install for get this...$200 (and 6 pack of Heiny). No broken studs or anything. The only time consuming bolt was for the oil dipstick.

Old headers were surprisingly in good shape - for sale now if anyone wants em.

... DT's do look purty.

yeah, that was fun putting back in.....oh wait that was the only bolt I actually did. :flipoff2:

Did he forget to reinstall the stick until after the headers were in like I did? That's a mother bear to do! I had to put the bolt in first by fingertips and then slot the stick mount to slide it in from the side.

Was he able to get slack in the O2 sensor feeds ok? It's not too bad if you do it before the headers go in.

For whatever reason I didn't have to pull the oil dipstick.

It was the absolute last bolt to be reinstalled. We started the bolt by fingertips too. 3 guys taking turns with a 12mm open end with little baby turns. Got even more difficult as the bolt head was going in past the flange, but we got her in.

It certainly can be done with it there, but I wasn't using an impact on mine and removing it gave me more room to turn a wrench. Pulling it is super easy. Replacing it before the headers is super easy. Replacing after the DT headers is ugly!

No kidding! And it kinda sucks we can't get a socket or anything more than an open end on a couple of those nuts on the driver's side DT headers.

Man I gotta see if I can still get in on these..

Have you gone back in to see if any of yours have relaxed? That multiplate gasket seems to want to compress over time.

Not yet but that's a good idea! Did your's need retightening?

A little, the next day, but I've been meaning to go back and check now that it has a few miles on it.

and you probably left the cats in too.

I've noticed idle is smoother, but up at 11,000+ ft yesterday I couldnt tell I had any power, let alone increase. All I knew was my 2000 with ATRAC was way better traction in snow than the 99 with open diffs I was with. You would think with the persons job position he'd have everything that's in Slees catalog(or on the warehouse shelves).

My CATs just flexed out of the way for removal of the OEM manifold and install of the DTs.

It would be nice to have a pump for the higher ups ;).

My only experience to date with traction control is on Sandy's '07 RAV4. Even with no-season tires it just plows through deep snow and/or securely over ice laden roads. Quite impressive actually.

As Dan said, you can do it with them in, but I pulled mine just to have more elbow room. It's 10 extra minutes on 10-hour job.

Unless your rig spent the first five years in a rust belt area...then all bets are off :D
