Come on guys - Grom's not shipping the ones that have been ordered 'til everyone finishes their order.

Late to the party (as usual) but please add me if there’s still time. Will place order today.

Edit: Will this work with an ‘03?

Hey Guys I don’t mean to derail the group buy but does anyone have a cliff notes version of why you’re choosing the Grom Vline2 over the Tesla style units?

Yes the Tesla style interface looks awesome but after doing a ton of research it's not reliable enough for me. Especially since it takes over the HVAC controls I don't want to be without heat or air if it has a glitch. The Grom unit we'll do everything we need and keep the reliability of the factory interface.

...why you’re choosing the Grom Vline2 over the Tesla style units?

Because after 8 months of crowd-thinking the installation by guys way more audiocapable than me, they're still wrestling with things like:

"...had to uninstall the PX6, reinstall the OEM unit, turn on the radio, set the volume to something between about ⅓ and ½ max volume (don't set to max volume), uninstall the OEM unit, and reinstall the PX6. After that, the sound worked... seems the last used OEM radio on/off setting is inherited by the PX6 and is stuck there and unable to be changed... "

Just doesn't seem ready for primetime quite yet.

Thx guys for the input. The screen resolution of my ‘03 is like a 1980’s Atari - anyone know if google maps will look any better?

It's not going to be crystal clear but you will at least get a more modern map system with Android auto or Apple car play. With the overall reliability of the system you're adding modern features so most guys say it's worth the trade-off even with the lower screen resolution.

1. Reliability. Those bottom barrel open-source android units are generally half assed reliability-tested on a level only rivaled by the cheapest of WalMart car audio brands.

2. Audio quality. The quality of an audio source matters an awful lot and to gamble a huge custom installation on an unproven product is hard for me to understand if one of your goals is "nice" audio.

3. Aesthetics. I'm probably in the minority here, but I despise typical touchscreens in automobiles. I'm a tech savvy person, but touchscreens have no place running commonly used functions in a vehicle. Perhaps when they've evolved another 5-10 years and we've got really advanced haptic feedback throughout the screen, I'll jump on board, but for now, it's a cheap and ineffective novelty.

Also very late response here - I’m interested if it’s still possible. Thanks!
