I contacted GROM regarding the possibility of a group buy for their new V-Line product and received this response today:

Hello Josh,

Thank you for your interest in VLine. We can offer special coupon for Lexus GX Offroad Club members. VLINE150 will give $150 off VLine order. Note that the special coupon is valid until November 15th only.

Feel free to share this coupon code with the members of the club.

Thank you,
Helen

So...if you want one, this is probably the time. Their site says it's for 2005-2008, 2006-2009, and 2007-2009 (in 3 different locations) so I'm not really sure what it will work with. I've emailed for clarification.

If that thing does what it looks like it does and it works with the 2006 that would be a Christmas miracle. I'm in if it works.

One of the things I dislike the most is the nav/audio/climate system on my 07. I just want to start up my vehicle and not have to press buttons or constantly look at the nav screen. I would honestly prefer a floating lexus screensaver.

If you go into the display options, you can turn the display off. I forget exactly how I ended up doing it, but I managed to have it stay on the audio screen all the time, so I didn't have to manually leave nav every time I started the truck.

Challenge accepted! Now send that Mister 2 my way for some proper auto-x fun!

Unfortunately I have an 06, and on their page is says 07+, so that's a bummer. I really like the look and features this offers!

Different areas of the page say 06+, 05+, and 04+...so I don't really know what they support. Hopefully I'll hear back from them soon.

Confirmed the current model is 2007-2009. They are working on 2003-2004 and 2005-2006.

So you can install single DIN sized unit where the tape player/audio controls are.. but you lose gps I assume? Does the screen still work for a/c - heater controls, etc

Replacing with an aftermarket head unit

You can't replace the OEM nav with an aftermarket unit because it also runs the climate control system. If you've seen it done, source?

I have seen another post where people removed the CD changer, shove the tape deck into the glove box where the CD changer was previously, and then installed a single DIN radio in the old tape deck's location. Of course they also had to run their own wires to the speakers, and they still have a turd in the dash, but it does get you a different head unit.

Here is just one....but you can definitely do this swap a couple of different ways. Definitely google it.

That's running another system in parallel...not replacing the oem nav.

Grom is on gxor posting specifics for this system as well.
