I've been Googling and Googling and not finding much specific to the GX470. Are there any upgrades people are doing for superior cooling? Looks like the stock fan is an electric fan. Maybe an upgraded fan? Flex-A-Lite or something? Looking to move more air at lower speeds in this crazy Florida heat. I did find some people upgrade their 4 Runner with the GX fan so that must mean it isn't total trash.. But I'm looking to see if there's anything even better/stronger.

stock cooling fan is a mechanical one. I can see fitting a higher CFM electric fan to replace the mechanical fan as an upgrade but you might just need to replace your fan clutch if you are overheating or seeing higher temps.

I'm in the high desert in CA and when it was over 100 a few weeks ago, the GX's engine coolant temp gauge still showed just below "middle". Stock everything in the coolant system.

The OEM fan is mechanical and is very good. I routinely tow with mine, including in heat above 100F. I have never had an issue with the cooling system - including during full-throttle runs in crazy heat, up hills, with our 4,000 pound camper. The fan will kick on at low speeds when it's hot out....but the UZ really does not generate a lot of heat unless you are revving and pulling it.

A better upgrade would be the radiator and a bigger trans cooler. Aftermarket aluminum versions are available that theoretically provide better cooling. I'll still likely replace mine with a $175 Denso OEM version as the factory cooling systems on these really leave very little to be desired (outside of inadequate trans cooling, which is easy to fix).

It's not so much when I'm moving. I'm more worried about keeping the AC functioning at 1000% when the truck is not moving. I do a lot of training with my dogs and often time one dog will be in the car with the AC running while the other is out. I had the system recharged yesterday and it made a big difference. Just still wanting to do everything I can to optimize the cooling.

The AC system is somewhat separate from the cooling system. It uses a condenser that's in front of the radiator, and the mechanical fan should kick on when the AC is engaged, in addition to an aux electric fan that's in front of the condensor. You would probably have a very hard time finding a mechanical or aftermarket electric fan that can move as much air as the OEM fan system.

If a system recharge helped with the AC performance, you might have a R134A leak somewhere, and you might have the same problem again. Hopefully it was recharged with UV-dyed R134A so leaks can be found in the future with a blacklight. The OEM AC system should basically freeze you out if it's working properly.

The AC is these trucks work great. Obviously, outside factors such as relative heat and humidity plays a factor in any AC system no matter what kind of fan they have. If you had to recharge yours, there a leak. Might be very slow, but a leak is there. The AC system is closed and should never lose refrigerant.
