Any estimates on what a body weighs?

No, not yet. Both will be completely gutted so only the shells will need to be xferred. Doors will be off, tailgate off, windows out, etc.

Bare bones. We'll use physics to help too.

Then off to the paint shop to get shot up.

:)

I'll be soon parting out a "slightly used" 1997 80 series body.

Bump:

Going to need some help after the New Year.

Doing a body swap. Will need able and willing hands/backs/legs to assist in taking old body off and putting new body on.

Will provide food, beer, etc.

Thanks.

i'll do my best to make it, keep us posted.

Doing a body swap.

It is about damn time. And don't weld the passenger doors shut on this one!!

You will find it much easier to entice women into your vehicle if they don't have to crawl through the moon roof.

i just figured that would be some sort of "flexibility" test or something twisted like he'd come up with...:lol::lol:

I will also do my best to be there and give a hand. Monitoring...

I think I put in for one weekend in January. But, I don't think my boss wants me to work that weekend. So, I should be available.

Thanks all for replying. Will advise when I know the skd. Plan is as follows:

1. After Farmington trip, park rig and gut the interior fully so just the shell. Detach from body mounts.

2. With club assistance, remove old body and place in yard. Pull entire engine/tranny/xfer case from rig.

3. Build new engine and get donor rig over and gut it out.

4. Install new powerplant etc. With club assistance transfer donor body.

5. Make rig runnable and take to body shop. Get painted.

6. Reinstall and proceed to drive new rig...break new rig etc.

:)

So two times ill need some club assistance.

I think I put in for one weekend in January.

Schedule came out today. I'm working the weekend of Jan 7-8. That means the following weekend is a five day weekend with the holiday.

There is some work to be done to the donor body vehicle in order to get it ambulatory.

That's between 2 and 3....

Er....

2.5: Make donor rig ambulatory. :)

What about step 6?

Oh, wait, never mind, wrong step 6....
