Hello all,

Just picked up my first Lexus. I've owned several late 90's BMWs and Audis ( I still have my Alpine white 99 M3) and I got into the offroad world with Jeeps. My wife has a Barcelona Red 16' Trail Premium 4Runner which is an awesome vehicle.

I wound up selling my Jeep for a 06' GX with 149k miles.

It's black with tan, Nav, no KDS and I love it!

Since I picked it up, I've done a tune up, and started ordering some parts for a lift.
I also tinted the front windows to match the rears and vinyl wrapped my wood trip in 3M anthracite brushed metallic. Swapped in one of those perforated leather sport steering wheels too.

Digging the site. Lots of good info on here!

Edit: Pics

Removed the ride height switch and installed the factory pocket. Fits my phone nicely. I also added a USB charger/voltmeter in place of the cigarette lighter port. Vinyl shown...

I'm looking for a black airbag and stereo controls, but I kind of like the two-tone look. The wood had to go either way after I did the vinyl wrap. This wheel feels amazing by the way!

Here's the tinted windows. Forgot to mention I replaced the ratted out chrome belt molding with black Prado parts.

Ordered extended travel rears as well but those are not shipping until April 11 according to MetalTech. Ended up not doing externals as their majesticness would be lost on me. I'm more into fire roads and and slow speed stuff. I can't see myself overheating my shocks.

285/70/17 BFG Ko2's - Hopefully the lift will accommodate them. I plan to do a BMC and Total Chaos alignment tabs when the suspension goes in.

Love to see some pics of the wrap! Sounds really cool. I have a Apline white F30 and a black E92. Fun cars to say the least! And nice screen name... coming from an old 19D

Congrats and welcome! I'd love to see your wheel. I've been looking to replace my tan (dark beige-ish grey) wheel.

I have a mineral white 2015 F15

It’s a lie unless you post pictures! Lol

Looks great!

Would love a link or more info on the black belt molding. My DS one is losing the rubber at the base of the window so need to replace that one for sure.

Part Number: 75711-60061, 75712-60061, 75721-60061, 75722-60061
Description:
Moulding, Front Door Belt, RH & LH
Moulding, Rear Door Belt, RH & LH

OEM Genuine Door Belt Moulding SET (Front & Rear, Left & Right)
These door belts are originally for Land Cruiser Prado 120 Series.
The door belts in this listing are black color. Lexus GX470 have chrome door belt mouldings.

Fitment:
Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 120 Series 2003-2009
Lexus GX470 2003-2009 (Will fit but is different color)

There's the 4 pieces for the doors. The rear quarter pieces will require some more digging.

I grabbed these from an overseas seller off Ebay. They arrived in a week in shopping tube. Each piece of molding was in a toyota factory parts bag with label.

I paid $137 shipped for the 4 door pieces.

I'm leery about ebay stuff being reproduction but these turned out to be just as advertised and a good deal.

By the way I am assuming those are long travel ICON cool-overs for the front. Don’t go with SPC upper control arms because they will bind up at full droop.

That does not look good. I am planning on pairing SPC's with extended travel Radflo's- were you using your swaybar when this picture was taken?

Sorry, I don't mean to Hi Jack the thread just want to share my experience with trying to fit extended travel ICON's.

Yes sway bar was attached with ICON spacer blocks. I ended up swapping to standard travel Toytec 2.5's because of this issue. Finally re-sold the used E.T. ICON's but lost $150 on them, plus had to hear from the wife I told you not to buy used coil-overs on craigs list.

@ArBrnSnpr what’s your target lift height for the front and rear?

And what’s your plan for rear springs
If u are converting?

I’m re-evaluating my suspension needs and just curious what you’ve come up with.

I'm aiming for around 2-2.5" of lift. I have a set of 285/70/17" Ko2's I plan to install, so hopefully 2.5" will facilitate that. If not, I'll do the BMC before I go higher.

I did 3" with my Jeep, then ended up at 4", then 5" and next thing I knew it handled like poo and got bad s***ty gas mileage. I didn't buy a GX for it's excellent gas mileage, but I would like to attain clearance and wheel fitment creatively rather than just lifting it higher and higher. 3" does seem to be the max I see people lifting GX's though...

I went with a Metaltech long travel kit for the rear.

Metal Tech 03-09 GX470/2010-Current GX460/FJ Cruiser/4Runner Rear Long Travel Suspension Stage 2

I had purchased the spring conversion pieces from Metaltech previously also. I'm just waiting on it to ship...

I need to source some isolators now.

I was going for the same and ended up with almost no lift, but I am very heavy in back, so swapping out for heavier springs.

For the off-roading and exploration I want to do, I also figured at most 2.5” lift and probalbly prefer 2”.

The front seems pretty easy with the array of adjustable coil overs that are available.

The rear seems more complex.

The upper ball joint seems to be set for max negative camber. This is easily remedied by adjusting the lower control arm to be more out. Which help widening your front track also.

SPC is makes good upper control arm, but I could see the issue if the adjustment is not done correctly The fixed upper force the alignment to be done from lower control arm and might reduce a lot of confusion to the tech.
