Habari All,
After several months on the site, and many more hours hunting for that "perfect" cruiser, I finally collected it yesterday:popcorn:

Ok, here first is my other love -Isabella, with whom I have grown too fondly attached, but with the family growing -and my :princess: and 2 year old daughter insisting on spending more time IN the CAR :grinpimp: as opposed to under it (her), the decision to get the cruiser was sort of easy.... Finding the right truck for the price was a little more difficult ...

Welcome to the forum.

I am glad to know there is another Kenyan on this site!! I have a 100 series Amazon and looking into purchasing an 80 series LC but they are just so hard to get.

Jambo Bwana :)

I spent a large part of my childhood in Nirobi, on the banks of Lake Niavasha, the Mara, and the coast at Wasini and Lamu (Don’t laugh at my spelling) Kenya is one of the most beautiful places on earth, and now you have the perfect car!

Congratualtions!

Yup... Kenya is a fantastic Country.

I returned back to Nairobi after spending a total of 17 years in the UK and so far no regrets.

In the last year I got a chance to go to the Rhino Charge, multiple safaris, visit places like Lake Baringo and not to mention the famous Diani beach!

The Amazon has performed flawlessly - utterly reliable and a joy to drive.

-Hey Gunney -clearly you are a KC (Kenyan Cowboy) .. ;) Cheers and Asante. And yes, it is a beautiful country ...

Hey Ample -incidentally, I spent almost 10 years in the States -DC/VA/MD area -school -school and some more :deadhorse: Got back home in 05 and have hit the Charge every year since (missed last year as I could nto be bothered to spend a month under the Rangie trying to get her all juiced up to go :bang: ...) and do the coast several times a year. Now with the VX, I will spend less time fixing it and more time driving it :D ...

Hmmm... the madness begins -just got a call from the tyre people -woohooo Tyres are going on this afternoon

KC is an understatment, I STILL have my Rino Challange and my Tuskers T-shirts :D

I was in school when I was there (ISK) a truly great place for a boy to gorw up!

Do us all on the forum a favor and put up loads of pictures of your travels

The Charge is fantastic. The team I was with came 11th...

Just been to some tyre guys - to change tyres on my bro's Subaru Forester. It had GT Radial Savero Plus AT's and they have been amazing. He's been to Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi and return to Kenya plus many trips in the bush and on tarmac and not a single puncture on any tyre over a 4 year time frame.

On my Amazon I have BF's (All Terrains) and I am very happy with them.

WTF??? How dare people living in all of these exotic countries take our beloved mall cruiser and actually use it for its intended purpose.

Welcome to the forum! I look forward to seeing some great pictures of a Land Cruiser in it's element!

Cant wait to see some pics of it in use...

kenya was awesome. Went on safari and i will always remember the interesting adventure of pulling out a rover from the mud in a 2wd Nissan van. They beat those vans so hard but we never got stuck and they just kept going.
The LC over a rover was an easy choice after that trip

I was in Kibwezi 2 summers ago, most dusty place i've been/seen in my life, yet I loved every minuet of it. Also enjoyed Nairobi and Mombassa. Oddly enough I don't remember ever seeing any 100series...so kudos on the find! Do you ahve IFS or Solid Front?
Maybe all my droooooling over the defenders and 70 series got in the way of the 100's....
Take it down to West Tsavo and post pix!:D

Welcome MilkmanVX!

I have also spent some time in Kenya. I really enjoyed the country and the people.

My favorite place that I worked was in Dembwa up in the Taita Hills. While I was there it was about 70* F and I was wearing shorts and a T-shirt and the locals were bundled up so much that you would have thought they were expecting snow.

Please post up some pics of your 100 series out in the bush.

Photo safari? Kenya has been closed to hunting for quite a while. Wildlife numbers have actually declined due to locals poaching since.

Kibwezi is VERY dusty:cheers: ... Tsavo is great -I should be headed down to the coast next weekend -shall snap a few shots of the Tsavo Gates then.

The Amazon is IFS. The 105s we get here are VERY basic -the choice of a 100 over the 105 was sort of easy -engine-wise plus all the other nice gadgets :) ....Yes, I know you guys drool over them coz you don't have the choice, but hey, the grass is always greener right ....

Kenya is Toyota country so there are plenty of 100s .... there are more 120s though (Prados/Colorados -depending on where you fish).

Pics are a must and a promise ... shall do ...

On the bundling -hahaha ... for us 70*F is FRIGGING COLD!!!! We are happy when we get to 80*F and above .... I shall :steer: to Dembwa one of these days ...

Those Nissan Urvan's are real tough. Most of them do not even have all terrains (forget mud terrains) but with the safari hatches on the roof and some minor mods they seem to be proven themselves in the wild.

I guess they are quite a bit lighter than proper 4x4's so they float over the mud!

I'd still have my LC anyday!

Yes Photo Safari. It was a family thing. It was years ago but I really only remember seeing Nissan vans and rovers. All I can say is that if you havent been. You need to put in on the list. Beautiful place, Really nice and Friendly people. It was amazing to go out in the bush where they have almost nothing and realize the locals speak better english than most people I deal with everyday here in the states and are far more educated than you expect. Cant wait to go back. We need more pics in this thread asap
