I searched first but didn't find what I was looking for. The PO put green coolant in, so I'm replacing with green. What brand of green coolant are you using? This "Prestone® antifreeze/coolant with proprietary Cor-Guard™ extended-life technology" https://www.grainger.com/product/PRESTONE-Antifreeze-Coolant-48RD30 isn't really a conventional green coolant, but does it work fine? Or is there something better?
What is the consensus among the list members about using green vs. red antifreeze/coolant? My cruiser had green coolant when I got it and I have it on my mind to change it, but not sure what is the best to use. Any relation between the type of coolant used and the PHH? Thanks,
As said above you’ll find plenty of info searching. For years I’ve used the ordinary Prestone pre-mix available at any auto parts store. Flush it well and go about life.

I've found from repairing customers cooling systems that one of the most important things to remember no matter what type of coolant you run, red or green.
Is to get into the habit of having you're cooling system serviced via flushing it with distilled water, along with changing out the coolant on a *bi yearly* basis.
Doing so will not only remove any abrasive sand and grit from the inside of the cooling system, but it'll help to protect you're radiator, and heater core from internal corrosion. Plus it'll insure that the water pump seal stays well lubed.
* Sorry i just don't believe that any coolant lasts for 5 to 10 years no matter what the manufacturer says on their bottle. It's like i use to tell my customers, replacing their coolant every 2 years is cheap insurance, replacing a water pump, radiator or heater core along with labor it takes to do the job is WAY more expensive then a gallon of coolant. YMMV
If it were mine and I was unsure of exactly what was in there, I would drain, flush with distilled, and refill with fresh, documenting what I put in for later.
I would recommend doing an external search for coolant type compatibility, as you can get that on your favorite search engine.

The Prestone green coolant in non-diluted format is the cheapest option. Just add diluted water to achieve your preferred concentration. There is a label on the bottle, or Prestone's website, which describes different concentrations for different driving environments (hot vs. cold). The premix stuff is more idiot proof and only marginally expensive. If I were less OCD I'd just buy that (Prestone green premixed).

People continue to astonish me with this endless red/green thing... Green is merely a dye color - NOT a type of coolant, neither is it a particular additive technology. The dye color is simply a choice in the coolant formula - made for marketing reasons. GET OVER IT! and move on. Choose a brand and stick with it! OR change - after a proper flush. BFD!
