OK, newbie mechanic question. What kind of grease should I use to refill my CV boots since we damaged one while lifting the beast?

I have it patched while I wait for the replacment part, but I want to have some grease around just in case.

Red synthetic grease. We use it in all our tools and other items that we use in the sea water because it doesn't wash out like regular black grease. Some call it "Military grade", others call it "Waterproof", but it's just red synthetic grease. Mobil 1 has some, but you also might look around for your favorite brand.

That is going to be a job, as I and a friend did his Pathfinders CV boots one year. Also, there are steel bands to buy, and a tool to tighten them up with. I forget the name of the tool, but I use them often in my job when we put hose fittings on etc which are high pressure. I'll try to find out what the tool is called etc. Don't try using zip ties, it doesn't work.

If there is a God I won't be the one doing it :)

Yeah, you have to take everything off...... wow. I suggest she takes it back to Toyota and has them do it there. ;)
