So I'm jazzed because there is a light at the end of the tunnel on this rebuild. I'm snugging down belts but the adjusting bolt on the idle pulley decides to twist off and end things.

Does anyone know the specs of that bolt? I'm mostly wondering about length - It's an M8 x 1.25. I just need to know how long to go. Finding full threaded stuff and be tough. When I tried to measure my two pieces, it looked to be about 90mm, but that is with a solid amount of error in the process. If it's needed i can try for a more accurate measure tomorrow.

Also, anyone ever dealt with Baller Bolts out of Texas? They have some interesting hardware up on their website.

Gotta be long enough to hit the opposite wall so the pulley traveling the threads will move where you want it. Though I still don't quite get how it moves in the other direction. How does one keep the bolt itself from backing out?

DO NOT USE BALLER BOLTS. Several folks have complained of extremely long wait times and no product received. To top that he is extremely slow or unwilling to respond to customer requests for order status.

I broke this bolt on a recent rebuild. The problem is you need full length threads and that is hard to find. I could only buy them by the box. I bought a full 10 piece box from McMaster Car. Needless to say, I have 9 bolts now. The one I used is working great, no issues. I paid something like $11 or so for the box. I'll be happy to send you a bolt if you will send a few bucks for shipping. Please PM me if you are interested.

I bought a SS M8x1.25x70 bolt, full thread, McMaster Carr part number 91287A451.

Baller bolts? Srsly?

Toyota sells the bolt and will have it in a day or two.

Hi, I had trouble getting the part from Toyota. I looked a lot of places and even posted here for help with it.

If you have the Toyota Part Number, that would be helpful for people in the future on this thread.

I could not find the part number in the BOM and I couldn't get supply houses to help me because I couldn't produce a part number. That is why I bought something from McMaster Carr.

Attached is the drawing where the bolt would be expected to be. However, in this picture the bolt is is not shown, it is actually behind the idler pulley. From Toyota Parts Overstock, they offered the pulley assembly, but not the bolt, same thing a bunch of other places. . .

Ultimately, I bought a SS M8x1.25x70 bolt, full thread, McMaster Carr part number 91287A451.

It looks like there is only one idler pulley on the engine? (click the image to make it visible.)

If so, then here is the tensioner bolt:

It seems that you may have found it. It certainly looks like this. Sure is a weird place to illustrate the tensioner. In my previous post, I posted a picture of the idler assembly, it seems that would have been more appropriate location.
