Got the engine bay cleaned up a bit... Redid hood insulator

So, what happened?

I always thought that the hood insulation was just to protect the paint on the hood from coming off prematurely. It is there for a reason, but I have no idea what that reason is for sure.

I do like how you did this, it looks clean to me. Nice work!

My experience on this is that when I used a non-oem pcv hose, it melted just a tiny spot in the hood liner over time between rubbing and heat. The paint on the hood in that same location began to discolor slightly.

On the other hand, the Cammo Cruiser runs with zero hood lining and the wrap has held up fine without it, but the hood gets hot enough to steam off rain and melts snow like a champ.

You gent are fantastic!! The conversation went from the heat transfer properties and insulating capabilities of the hood liner to, "Just burn it!". All on the name of science.

Feels like a mythbuster episode.

So, how did it burn?
