Got my Techstream (10.30.029) cable and software working on Windows8 64-bit laptop. Here's what I did.

  1. I ordered this cable/software from Amazon. Was $15 with slow boat shipping, took 2.5 weeks to get.
  2. Load this page since I used this for most of my steps, Techstream TIS VCI Installation Guide (64-bit OS) Including All Software Needed! - Scion FR-S Forum | Subaru BRZ Forum | Toyota 86 GT 86 Forum | AS1 Forum - FT86CLUB
  3. First thing you need to do is install the driver for the USB/OBDII cable. Follow the steps outlined in "Installing MVCI Driver for TOYOTA" of the ft86club post. I used the "Mini VCI Driver for TOYOTA.msi" in the 10.30.029 folder that came on the CD from Amazon
  4. After drivers are properly installed and you verify you can see the device connected on the XHorse Firmware Update Tool, you're GTG
  5. Next up is the Techstream software, from the included CD I ran the "Toyota Techstream 10.30.029.exe". After installation I went into the C:\Program Files (x86)\Toyota Diagnostics\Techstream\bin folder and replaced the "MainMenu.exe" file with the one found on the CD.
  6. You should be able to load up the Techstream link that was installed on your desktop. When it asks to register with a new key, use the key found in the "serie.txt" on the CD.
  7. Next you'll need to update your registry, on the ft86club post there's a Dropbox link and with a "mvci-x64.reg" file, download this and run it.
  8. Open up Techstream, go to Setup menu, VIM Select, and choose the XHorse - MVCI. This will have Techstream use the XHorse - MVCI cable.
  9. If you try to Connect to Vehicle you'll get a message that forces you to update the software. To get around this disable your internet connection (turn off wifi and/or unplug your ethernet cable). Now you can start and use Techstream without the force update check.
  10. When you connect there's a counter in Techstream that only allows 30 connections to your car without an internet connection. To get around this go to the C:\Program Files (x86)\Toyota Diagnostics\Techstream\Env folder and open the "IT3UserCustom.ini" file. Towards the bottom there's a "ConnectionCount" variable, just update this to 1 when you get close to 30 connections.

This worked for me... hopefully this will save everyone some time/hassle. I would be careful of what you try to update in Techstream. I just updated the unlock so a single press will unlock all the doors. I also viewed some data on the TPMS stuff.

My brain is smoking after reading what I'm sure was computer program talk  So what can you do with the tech stream ?

You basically have access to all the stuff a Lexus dealer would have. So I can update my customization like how the door lock behaves or can update the TPMS IDs.

Dan....dan...he's our man!! thanks for the write up. I need to get "single click to unlock all doors" in my life.

I got mine working on Windows 10. I just have to wait for my laptop and I can try it on the truck to make sure it talks.

Two months later, mine never showed up. I bought another one from someone on Amazon who had it listed with Prime shipping and it arrived promptly as expected.

Now to see if I can get my other two keys to work...

Is it possible to turn off the TPSM light?
thanks
mike

Not sure. There was a discussion in the GXOR FB group about it but mixed results it seems. You can't disable TPMS but you can try to pull null values for the sensor code. I have not tried though.

i got the techstream v12.00.1276 installed on Windows 7 laptop following the video guide step by step

32 or 64 bit?

Is it possible to turn off the TPSM light?
thanks

There's a single wire you need to cut and ground to achieve this, harness is located behind the glove box, there's threads on this floating around.

Thanks This will be better then the pvc tube under pressure with the sensers inside trick. I'll search for this

I had a TPMS sensor fail, and I dug up one of the DIY threads floating around online rather than start shotgunning sensors. Super easy, and no regrets having done it. My vehicle has nav so I did the ground for DVD at the same time. Thanks to noticing this thread I now want to buy a cable and get this software running!

ETA:

I found a cable on Amazon, but not the specific one mentioned in the linked thread. Think it will get the job done?

Looks to be the same cable.

Quick note on techstream 10.x with windows 7 or greater x64 with the 1.4.1 (and possibly the 2.0.1) Mini VCI cable. I was having absolute fits trying to get the driver recognized. Turns out the cable was being recognized as a Broadcom Bluetooth 3.0 Chip. If you select that device, Select Update driver, Select Let me Pick From a list of device drivers on my computer (letting windows scan a specific location doesnt work), then click have disk and browse to the location of your MCVI drivers (Should be C:\Program Files (x86)\XHorse Electronics\MVCI Driver for TOYOTA TIS\) and go to the ftdibus directory and select the ftdibus.inf file. This will get the correct drivers in place for the cable. The COM drivers will install automatically after you get the cable (bus) driver in place.

Hopefully the search engines pick this up and it is helpful for someone else.

Does this allow a one person bleeding procedure, or do you still need the help of an assistant?

I have also ordered a mini vci cable. I have gotten the pc - a win 10 x64 - to recognize the cable (verified this with "XHorse Firmware Update" tool, which in fact verified it was connected and of firmware version 1.4.1). However. Can't get it to work with TechStream. It only says it's unable to connect to VIM. I read that I should change Setup>VIM Select to XHorse. However. There is no XHorse, there is only TIS TechStream VIM that shows up. What have I done wrong? I am not able to connect to car using "TIS Techstream VIM" ... :(

For all of you looking for the latest version, Installs and works fine on WIN10, WIN10 X64 etc natively. Plus an already packaged driver for X64. Oh, and its an UNTOUCHED package from Toyota. You install and post the Code, then it gets activated for the WORLD (all the 4 zones) for 5000 days.

They are all released there and then keys / activation generated. You can also get your immobilizer codes and generated key cut codes. Some are even posting the .cuw flash files. Even a small file with most of Toyota, Lexus, Scion, etc. calibration files up to 2016.02
