Been wondering why my heat sucked so bad. All the heat is leaking out the triangle shaped gasket next to heater box. This tube is all disfigured
Anyone have one to spare?

Cut some reliefs in it!! Along the bend. It actually looks like that should go on outside of mating piece 😉

mating piece is rubber. That won’t hold.
Also the firewall side on mine is cracked and leaking too.

I bent up some 1/4” flat bar into a triangle then stuffed it into the duct to hold its shape. the rubber gasket is now snug and the duct no longer leaks

That’s a great idea.

shouldn't be any heat coming out of that area. the triangle piece is the air flow from the blower motor, if there is back preasure coming out there, maybe the heater core is plugged up??

how about wrapping with black duct tape??

Was not as much heat, it was the loss of air flow through the normal channels

this particular one I have is junk. I can fix it, yes but it’s a plastic piece from a truck that rises out around it.
I’m sure there are plenty good ones out there.

I think I still have one lying around after I installed the a/c. Let me know if you're still looking for one.

Please. If it has that stamp it should be same. I have one from a 71 and 73 and they are different

This! My $ is on a heater core that has a bunch of dog hair and leaves and general debris obstructing air flow through the heat exchanger passages

It’s passing plenty of air it’s just got a 3” gap on the hose and a 2” at the firewall.
