got an i-pod - which HU should I use?

I got an i-pod for b-day from
I have the stock HU in my '01 - apparently not easily or cheaply compatable. BUT....
I have seen some info on the Scion HU, but want more details ie: which model is plug-n-play or needs a simple adapter (not wanting to go the FM signal route) for the i-pod.
Any info would be helpful!

Let me find my write-up... Scion head unit, ipod integration box, all controls on front of head unit control the iPod.

The ipod interface box came off ebay for $45. I don't know the brand off hand

like this- but the prices are WAY up from when i bought mine...

I put the scion unit in my 03 Tacoma. I was able to get all of the cables from a scion at the salvage yard, including the plugs for the ipod and an Aux audio source. Here's my writeup:

I used a t1809 head unit, and this cable will plug in the back
06 07 08 09 SCION XB FACTORY OEM IPOD INTERFACE CABLE - eBay (item 330460961785 end time Sep-13-10 10:45:37 PDT)

You can choose either direct control over the ipod, or use the ipod's controls

How different are the T1807 & 1809?

I checked and found out that the primary difference is the screen colors available on the 1809 as the 1807 only has one - oh and the faceplate configuration.

I have an Alpine in my '03. Love it! Works great with my iPhone, but you can also throw your tunes on a thumbdrive (what I did) and search/select etc right from the HU. Cool feature I think.

The 1807 does not have ipod control. You can wire in an aux port for it.
