Thanks A, I'll let Luke, Christo and 20 others fight for the 80 products... I like to build a useful, yet economical and versatile product.

Nothing like a 40/55/60 with a good stout product that is designed for the intended use. Not just for show!
HA!

First dibs on a skid plate please. Better get yourself an fj62 test mule, different cross members and such.

A, My buddy has a 200 ton CNC brake... I have a nice OEM 60 skid for R&D and need a 62 if someone wants to contribute to the cause... Special price on their plate of course...

Tell me what measurements are needed for the skid plates I'll do my best to take photos with exact measurements. That's how I got my sliders done a few years back.

Here is a factory 62 plate..

Not sure how a skid will work due to the custom fit of your 4BT. Guaranteed mine is different than yours.

Unmolested you say? Good luck finding one :) . There was one in my area, stock, one owner, but he sold it recently. Will keep an eye out.

That is the splash guard between the front crossmember to the cross member just behind the steering. I can't see why you would need to duplicate that as it doesn't get any real wear. It's the same as on a 60.

The 62 skid plate itself is a joke. It's a small piece of sheetmetal bolted below the crossmember and protects the bottom of the t-case only, kind of like an 80 series.

I see them all the time in Salt Lake. Got my eye on a '89 FJ62 -1 owner, full dealer maintenance records, 220K... Rust of course... 3750.00. Little pricey for my purposes...

When they can't pass emissions in Utah.. the price plummets and I find them in the 800.00 -1500.00 range all the time there. Right up my alley with the rust repair.. But for the rig I'm looking for, IDC about rust.. Need it for dimensioning purposes ONLY! Will not build this one up... (WELL... Not anytime soon HA!)

I want a full set of OEM plates for 60 and 62s and then I will try and make a 2-4 piece set-up that links together from front to rear for full belly protection. I have had about 30 PMs about designing a set of these plates for the 60/62..

Well, I'd start the belly pan further back. Seriously, if the pan you show gets hit by a rock, it has already crushed your steering linkage and you would have bigger problems.

I've got the same opinion. I removed the radiator "splash guard" when I did my frame swap. My front springs and axle housing take a beating, and sometimes the bumper, but never the radiator area.

Granted, I am sprung over, but even when I wasn't, I never saw any marks in that area.

Ok, when I get a model truck, I will post up pics of where I am wanting to start and end. Then I will decide how to proceed.

Made out of 18 ga, yes... 1/4" or 3/8" plate properly boxed and supported.. not as much..

J

Negative. The rock would have to go through the steering to even get to that plate. All that's needed there is a splash guard and even plastic would be fine.
