Anyone run these yet? Looking at a set of 285 75 16's for the 80.

They are fairly new so not much info out there but look really promising. That and the fact that I can get em for 1100 tax in.

Another place wants 1400+tax for terra grapplers but for some reason I dont really like the look.

Opinions?

I've been running this exact tire for the last few months and have been very impressed. So far, it's been very solid off road and surprisingly quiet on the freeway. There are some reviews on the internet complaining about squishy sidewalls, but I haven't had this experience. The 285/75 16 is a an E load range tire, so the sidewalls are plenty strong. Took a while to get the pressures just right, but they've been great ever since. Gotten a ton of compliments on them too.

Heard excellent things about the Nitto Terra Grappler too. After doing a bit more research, I would have been tempted to buy the Nittos, but I'm glad I tried the Duratracks. It's a pretty amazing piece of tread. Would not hesitate in recommending them.

$1100 is pretty steep if your talking about 4 tires. I ended up getting my set for $180 per tire plus tax, install...

I am also running them, but in the 265/75 version. So far they have been very good, but I am waiting to see how they handle the wet roads and snow. Discount Tire seemed to have the best prices by me.

A co worker of mine has a set and has been impressed so far.

I've heard reports that the sidewalls are surprising thin. This isn't first hand info though, just something to check out before you buy.

I sell tires for a living. I haven't sold the Duratracs yet but have a customer that has them on a work truck and loves them. As for the Terra Grapplers, they are excellent tires but they aren't for super hardcore use. I had them on my tow rig a few years ago and really liked them. My boss has them on his truck (no offroad use) and loves them. They are quiet, ride smooth, balance way better than the BFG KO's, and still can get 60k miles with regular rotations.

x2 for E load range side walls. Should create firmer ride as well.

What pressure did you settle on? Any extra weight over stock?

Actually I was really impressed with the new mtr off road. my buddy has a set of 33x12.5's on his heap and he was keeping up to another heap rolling on 37 inch mud grapplers in the mud. Thats a lot better than the old mtr's. theyre still good on the rocks too.

they do look a little weird w the 2 different treads.......

As for the duratrack, s*** i saw it at the shop and it looks more aggressive than the mtr........ has the snowflake symbol so they should be decent in winter.

The pricing is in canadian dollars man. one place wanted 1400 plus tax for the terra grapplers so im thinking 1100 tax in and installed is a pretty freaking sweet deal..... If I were to order online the shipping, duty and exchange would push whatever "deal" I got past the 1100 dollar mark.

Overall, besides a true mt, these duratracks are the best looking at out there imo. If they perform as advertised I'll be more than happy.

I've been running them at 45 psi with good results. I have not, however done a chalk test yet. Aired them down to about 20 offroad and had tons of grip and no real concern about the sidewall.

What sold me on the tire was how it bordered on an M/T tread, but was still quiet at speed. My wife doesn't complain one bit about road noise.

My biggest concern is how much mileage Ill get out the set. I'm expecting somewhere inbetween 40 and 50 thousand, but well see. Just not that much info available about them yet.

Personally, I think they look pretty good on the truck, an aggressive almost narrow looking tire. Ill try and post some pics soon so you get an idea of what they look like on an 80.

cool, thanks.

based on past on-road performance with Goodyear's Wrangler SilentArmor tire, I am sure the Duratracs are likely to do very very well in wet and icy conditions and will roll quietly for such an aggressive tread. I would love to get a set of these, I may actually get these over Cooper Discoverer STs this fall, we'll see which I go. If only they made them in a 255/85, I'd pull the trigger for sure. The amount of siping on the tire will make it very sure in challenging conditions.

The E load-range tire should take care of any complaints about thin, squishy sidewalls.

I would also appreciate a peek at what this tire looks like on a 80.

I also ran Goodyear SilentArmor's on my 1992 80 when I had it and I was more than impressed with them. Im sure the Duratracks would follow suit.

These are more than a little overdue. Hope they post right as I've never posted pics before.

Sold

I have 8/32" lefo on my BFGs (over 57,000 miles on them) but when I replace them, I'm pretty sure it will be with 285/75 DuraTracs. Thanks AJ for the pics - they sealed the deal.

sweet lookin tires dude. have mine on order, they had to ship from illinois.....

i have no idea where you are in canada, but 4wheelparts.com constantly runs sales on tires buy 3 get one free. they do free shipping to any of their stores. they have a few stores in washington state. right now they have their procomps on sale.

saw them in the store last week and the pictures don't do them much justice; they look really good in the "flesh"- have the BFG MT (and others) stiction breaker thing between the big outer lugs, and the area at the base of the tread in the voids has a pattern of raised sorta checkerboard looking stuff that probably allows sticky mud to peel off that area easier also, may even be for sound cancellation?
