Going price for cheap "Take off" Toyota wheels?

I just paid $750 shipped for a set of LC 16" chrome takeoffs. Wheels were like BRAND NEW and were off an 02-03 and had been in storage awhile. It was cheaper than the factory painted alloys I could find on eBay. G/L.

Ouch! Probably 02 as 03 all had 18's... But ouch!

Some 03s had 17s ;)

But, yes, 750 for OEM 16s, yikes. And chrome? bleh

I was looking for a set of the Tundra steelies with the holes, that look like the FJ cruiser steelies. That is until i saw how much they weighed. They are about 10-12 lbs heavier per wheel than the LC 18" wheels.

Yep, but those OE 17's are rare as hens teeth and never (?) in chrome. For that matter, did Toyota ever have chrome 16's? I've only seen LX in chrome 16's.

Are you sure on the weight? I thought the tundy 18's were only around 25 lbs. Hard to shave 12 off that.

Edit: scratch the last part. Missed the steelie.

FWIW: My aluminum Tundra 18" wheels weigh 29lbs each. My aluminum '03+ LC wheels weigh 28lbs each. That's using the only scale I have for weighing larger items...a bathroom scale ;)

Ok about the steelies
I thought they were design to be used for tube tires not tubeless!!! and they are split wheels right?? so I use them should we make any changes??
:meh:

You have tundra alloys or tundra steel wheels?

Paid 50 for 4 5 spoke tundra steelies two tears ago. Local Craigslist has the 5 spoke, whole style steelies and 18 tundra alloys for sale right now. The steelies of both style are 100 for 4 and the alloys are 400 for 4.

Just got a set of 4 18s off Craigs List for $100. :)

Going to paint them Gray or maybe Black like Rundogs5000's pictured below.

Merry Christmas Mud....

Thanks Spresso ;)

So it sounds like I will have to hit up Costco for new lug nuts...

"steel wheels are lug centric (hangs on hub and wheel lugs and nuts snug and center the wheel"

Do these Tundra steelies require spacers? Or any of the 18" Tundra wheels for that matter?

I think I'm going to snoop around on Craigslist...:D

Here is StinkyFj60's wheels...his are actually split Rims.

Remember my Cruiser is white...what color of Gray is on the 60 above?

I just took those off of my rig and I am running LT285/75R16 General Grabber AT2 on my factory alloy wheels.

I am going to break down the splits, clean them up and decide if in the future I should run an LT235/85R16 winter tires on them. Also, a rim repair shop pointed me to a machine shop here in Seattle that may be able to widen them (just for s***s and giggles).

Only splits need tubes. The splits aren't available in the U.S. as an option.

I was planning on painting the wheels.

After visiting Les Schwab I decided to powder coat for $25 per wheel.

The new tires are 265/65 R18 Michelin Lattitude X-Ice

The last picture is LT285/70R17/D Michelin A/T2.

Costco charged me $0.40 per lug nut. :)
